Bandai Namco released two new gameplay trailers for Tekken 8 featuring playable fighters Leroy Smith and Asuka Kazama. Leroy Smith and Asuka Kazama are returning characters from Tekken 7.
The current roster of Tekken 8 includes Kazuya Mishima, Lars Alexandersson, Jun Kazama, Jin Kazama, King, Nina Williams, Paul Phoenix, Marshall Law, Ling Xiaoyu, Leroy Smith, and Asuka Kazama. All of Tekken 8’s characters have access to the new Heat System, which triggers powerful attacks and enhancements for certain abilities. Fans can expect more Tekken 8 trailers and information throughout 2023.

Aggressive Tactics
Tekken 8 will feature exciting new gameplay focused on “Aggressive” tactics. Retaining Tekken’s unique fighting game identity, the game will provide both players and spectators with the series‘ most thrilling experience yet with visceral screen-jarring attacks and environments that are both dynamic and destructible. The trailer highlights an all-new game mechanic called the “Heat System,” which triggers aggressive attacks with special moves and enhancements for each character’s abilities.
Fist Meets Fate
“Fist Meets Fate” in the dramatic new storyline in Tekken 8. The Tekken series holds the Guinness World Record for being the longest-running video game storyline. Tekken 8 continues the tragic saga of the Mishima and Kazama bloodlines and their world-shaking father-and-son grudge matches. This latest saga begins where the previous title left off, with a world mired deep in the devastating war between Kazuya Mishima and Jin Kazama. After suffering what seems to be a defeat from Kazuya, Jin faces his own fate. His mother, Jun Kazama, appears after her absence from the Tekken franchise to try and turn the tide in this blood feud.

Before the release of Tekken 8, Tekken World Tour 2023 will be the final major tournament series for Tekken 7. Labeled as the “fully offline finale” of Tekken 7, the international offline tournament series comes to multiple venues around the world including EVO Japan at the Tokyo Big Sight. Tekken World Tour 2023 began with EVO Japan 2023, which took place from March 31 to April 2.
Challenger events are back for Tekken World Tour 2023, bringing community-run events into the spotlight with the opportunity of becoming future Master events. Additionally, Dojo events will return, allowing individual tournament organizers to apply as an official offline event. More details about the upcoming tournament series will be revealed at a later date on the official website.
Lastly, Tekken 8 is currently in development for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
