SEGA, ATLUS, and Tower of Fantasy publisher Perfect World Games announced Persona 5: The Phantom X, a new Persona 5 mobile game spinoff by Black Wings Game Studio. The upcoming title features a brand-new cast of Phantom Thief-like characters with a main protagonist being aided by the Velvet Room inhabitants once more.
Persona 5: The Phantom X is Official
An official Weibo account and website for Persona 5: The Phantom X went live, revealing trailers and details about the game prematurely. The new title is officially licensed by SEGA and ATLUS with some involvement of key Persona staff including character designer Shigenori Soejima. The game aims to properly represent the stylish audio and aesthetic seen in Persona 5 and Persona 5 Royal while delivering an original experience for mobile platforms (Thanks, Persona Central).

Persona 5: The Phantom X appears to feature School Life and Metaverse segments similarly to Persona 5 and Persona 5 Royal. Additionally, the new Persona mobile game retains the signature Megami Tensei franchise’s turn-based combat. Players may navigate through a familiar Shibuya with slight differences from the Persona 5 games. The story appears to focus on the theme of “desire” once more.

The protagonist (codename Wonder) is a second year high school student at Kiba Academy in Tokyo. Wonder unlocks his Persona Jánošík and receives the aid of Igor and an unique Velvet Room attendant named Merope. A mascot-like character named Luffy (codename Cattle), classmate Arai Suwa (codename Closer), and various unnamed Persona users aid the protagonist in P5X. Further, the Phantom Thieves make a return in the new title according to screenshots on the official website.

Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4 Golden are available now for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and Windows. Lastly, Persona 5 Royal is available now for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and Windows.
Lastly, Persona 5: The Phantom X is coming to Android, iOS, and PC (Windows) in China.
