Nintendo issued a press release to investors, confirming that Pokémon Scarlet and Violet achieved the biggest console-exclusive launch of all time.
According to Nintendo, over 10 million copies of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet for Nintendo Switch were sold worldwide during the first three days of release. 4.05 million were sold in Japan alone while 5.95 million were sold outside the country.
Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is the highest-selling launch title of all time for Nintendo Switch both domestically in Japan and worldwide. Additionally, the new Pokémon release is the biggest console-exclusive release of all time for any video game platform and Nintendo’s biggest launch of all time.
Sales of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet nearly doubled God of War Ragnarok’s debut sales during a debut-week period. PlayStation confirmed God of War Ragnarok sold 5.1 million copies worldwide to become the company’s highest-selling PlayStation launch of all time.
Pokémon Scarlet and Violet launched on November 18, 2022 for Nintendo Switch. The reported sales data covers sales up to November 21, 2022. Physical shipments and digital copies sold are factored into the total sales data.
