Need for Speed 2022 will be a “next-gen only” game

It looks like Criterion’s Need for Speed game will be a next-gen only game according to reputable VentureBeat journalist Jeff Grubb. During the GrubbSnax show, Grubb stated that Need for Speed is still releasing in 2022, citing a November 2022 release window. The game will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC only. Development at EA is shifting toward the newer platforms so we’re likely to see games from EA focus on those.

There are rumors swirling around about the new Need for Speed’s setting. According to Grubb, he’s “heard of stuff like Miami” which makes him think it could be similar to Underground. However, its best left up to speculation. The new Need for Speed from Criterion is looking to impress in late 2022.
