Rumor: Capcom Division 1 has reportedly taken over development of Resident Evil 4 Remake (previously M-Two) according to VGC, planned for 2023 release

Over the past year, Resident Evil 4 Remake rumors and industry info have surfaced. Originally, M-Two was leading the charge for the project as they had also developed Resident Evil 3 Remake. According to VGC, the project has changed hands back to Capcom’s Division 1. The outlet sites disagreements between M-Two and Division 1 with directions to take the remake in. M-Two wants to follow a more traditional remake like Resident Evil 3 Remake but Capcom wants to build the game with inspiration from the original, but take on new elements and features.

Sources claim that M-Two’s role in RE4 Remake has been “significantly reduced” as Division 1 overhauls and “reboots” the game. Capcom now plans to release RE4 Remake in 2023 if this is true. Division 1 is very capable as they’ve developed games like Devil May Cry 5 and Resident Evil Village which are key titles for Capcom. Lastly, VGC says Capcom declined to comment on the matter.

It will be a while before RE4 Remake sees the light of day but Village is looking very promising. Stay tuned at Final Weapon for the latest Japanese gaming news and updates!
