Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis Preview – Stylish & Incredibly Promising

Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis Preview

Tomb Raider is one of the most iconic franchises in all of gaming, with Lara Croft still to this day one of the industry’s greatest icons. It’s been 8 years since the last new entry in the series, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, was released, and while we’ve gotten multiple remastered collections, fans have looked forward to what’s next for quite some time. The answer is Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, a from-the-ground-up remake of the original game almost three decades later. During Summer Game Fest: Play Days 2026, I had the chance to go hands-on with 50 minutes of the game in its iconic Lost Valley level, and overall, I’m thoroughly impressed with what I’ve seen so far.

Legacy of Atlantis is the second remake of the original game, and with that comes massive nostalgia and expectation from fans. I know some online were skeptical of how this remake might turn out, but the demo I played reassured me that this team is well aware of what Tomb Raider is and what fans want from it. Right out of the gate, it was hard not to appreciate just how visually impressive the game was. There is such a high level of detail throughout, whether in foliage, environmental assets like water, or Lara’s character model. The lighting, especially, was stunning, with some really neat filtering of sunlight done through the jungle trees.

As an earlier level in the game, The Lost Valley offered a few puzzles to complete. Lara has quite a few tools at her disposal, including a grappling hook that allows you to swing across waterfalls, pull objects, and more. I was able to use the grappling hook to pull down a gear I needed to complete a puzzle, and that process was a fun challenge. It’s been said that multiple new puzzle mechanics are being added to Legacy of Atlantis, and I’m excited to see how these end up being.

Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis Releases on February 10, 2027

Naturally, Legacy of Atlantis is still a linear game, but it appears that its environments will have plenty to discover off the beaten path. Hidden collectibles are available to seek throughout, in addition to a scanner that gives insight into some of the architecture and relics in the environment. As a huge fan of a good adventure story, I love that there are all sorts of things to find in the environment. You are rewarded for checking out interesting areas or walking through an unknown path. Discovery and exploration are such key parts of an adventure like Tomb Raider, and these elements greatly enhance it.

Beyond exploration, combat is a key focus that you’ll have to get familiar with throughout the adventure. Lara has her iconic dual-pistol setup, and these felt so satisfying to use. Each shot felt snappy and right in line with what I’d hope for from gunplay. My preview had me sidestepping around and firing away at dinosaurs as they lunged toward me, and I had so much fun shooting them down. It’s just an absolute blast dodging all over as Lara with flips and cartwheels as you shoot down enemies.

My favorite addition Legacy of Atlantis brings to the table is the new Focus meter. We all know Lara’s dynamic, expressive dodges, and the teams at Crystal Dynamics and Flying Wild Hog have built a mechanic around this that is genuinely exciting. As you dodge away from enemies, a small meter on the bottom left fills. Once a circle is filled in, you can tap the right bumper to enter Focus Mode, which slows down time and has Lara strike a sweet pose mid-air to shoot enemies. This addition is so much fun and, truthfully, makes combat a joy. As I dodged away from dinosaurs, I could quickly slow down time and deal massive headshot damage while upside down. It makes playing as Lara a lot of fun, and I’m looking forward to seeing how the system shapes up in the full release.

Throughout the demo, Lara had plenty of witty lines that felt right in line with what I’d expect from her character. It feels right in line with the confident Lara found in early games and films, and I’m very happy with the voice acting I heard from Alix Wilton Regan so far. I am interested to see how the cutscene direction and overall dialogue are for the rest of the game, as I enjoyed what I experienced.

I was already stoked to play Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, but after my demo, it’s instantly one of my most anticipated games of 2027. The Amazon Games team I spoke with during my preview made it clear that this experience has been built by huge fans of the series for fans, whether veterans or newcomers. The original game is still here, but some enhancements go beyond a remake here. Based on my time with the game, I think those additions are really going to pay off. The stylish gameplay and new mechanics look to make this the best version of Lara’s debut adventure, and it’s looking like that very well may be the case after spending some hands-on time with the game.

Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis is set to launch on February 12, 2027, across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.

Mousebusters Releases on Xbox One and Nintendo Switch on June 25

Mousebusters Releases on Xbox One and Nintendo Switch on June 25

Odencat has announced that it will release “cute and spooky horror adventure” Mousebusters on Xbox One and Nintendo Switch on June 25. The game is available now on PC via Steam.

Recently, Final Weapon reviewed Mousebusters and gave it a 3.5/5. We described it as an “adventure game with point-and-click, puzzle, and shoot ’em up elements. The gameplay loop is okay but slow at times. The characters are fun but not all of them stick the landing. The narrative can be slow but picks up in the second half leading to a satisfying ending. While it has issues the last hour of the game more than make up for them and I enjoyed my time with it. Especially since you can beat it in an afternoon.”

Lastly, here’s an overview of Mousebusters, via Steam

Welcome to Mousebusters!

You just moved into your new place, and are excited to settle in…when all of a sudden, you get turned into a mouse! Thankfully, you soon meet a fellow rodent who knows how to help.

He asks you to call him “Chief,” and explains that there’s only one way to break the curse: by ridding the whole apartment building of the ghosts that haunt its inhabitants

Get to Know Your New Neighbors

In each apartment, you’ll find a different ghost—but it won’t be that easy to track them down. It seems they prey on negative emotions, so in order to smoke them out, you’ll have to do some major recon to figure out each resident’s biggest insecurities. Just don’t get caught!

A Partner You Can Count On

Luckily, you won’t have to go it alone, because you’ll be in frequent contact with the Chief throughout each mission. From his comfy desk at HQ, he’ll offer plenty of guidance and comedic commentary as you scour the building and solve puzzles to find each ghost.

Engage in Ghost-Zapping Action!

Once you’ve tracked down the source of each resident’s woes, you’ll have to whip out your trusty ray gun and perform a good ol’ fashioned exorcism. Protect yourself from projectiles while targeting their weak points to expose their spectral cores!

Venture Down the Rabbit Hole

Over the course of your investigations, you’ll slowly uncover more and more evidence that suggests something far more ominous is going on with this building…and it seems the Chief knows more about the curse than he’s letting on. Just how deep does this conspiracy go?

A Deluxe Edition is available for $79.99 with Standard Edition contents and the Deluxe Pack (Kairos Pack, Balgran Shield, and Exclaire Horse Tack Set). Crimson Desert is currently receiving updates, with a full DLC announced but yet to be detailed. Lastly, the Steam page gives this overview:

Along your perilous path stands both dependable allies and countless foes who will stop at nothing to see your downfall. Face trials to uncover the truth of the catastrophe looming over Pywel and restore peace to the continent.

Mousebusters Review – A Short and Cute Adventure

Mousebusters

Do you believe in ghosts? Have you been overwhelmed by negative emotions lately? Are you stuck in a cycle of your worst traits? What would you do if these were all connected in some way? How would you even begin to tackle something like this, especially if you can’t physically see the issue either? There are many ways to deal with something like this, but what if I told you a mouse could fix it? These questions may seem odd, but they’re all I could think about as I was playing Mousebusters from Japanese indie developer Odencat.

Mousebusters is an adventure game that combines point-and-click elements with puzzles and shoot ‘em ups. In it, you play as someone who wakes up as a mouse after moving into a new apartment. You team up with another mouse named Chief, who tells you the building is haunted. Now it’s up to both of you to deal with all the ghosts and help out all the tenants. You must uncover the dark secret causing all this as well, all while being stuck as a mouse. The result is a short and cute game with a few issues.

A Job for the Mousebusters

In Mousebusters, the building you move into has definitely seen better days, but it’s the only thing you can afford. After entering your new apartment, you see the building has a mouse already living in it. You decide to go to bed after seeing it, but when you wake up, things are different. For some reason, you’re now a mouse, and you’re quickly recruited for something major. It turns out that the other mouse you saw calls himself Chief and tells you that ghosts haunt the building. He also tells you that the ghosts are increasing the tenants’ negative emotions and that only mice can see them.

Now it’s up to you to take care of them. Chief stays back at headquarters and talks to you as you navigate the different apartments looking for the ghosts. This premise immediately hooked me. It’s such a fun idea, and the game’s writing matches the energy it needs. I find myself laughing from time to time and enjoy the banter between the mice. The writing does falter at times, especially when it comes to the other characters. There are five other tenants in the building you have to help, and not all of them stick the landing.

All the characters have realistic problems, but the game is so short that they all feel surface-level. Even at the end, when they try to flesh everyone out fully, it only works for one of them. It makes the first half of the game a bit of a slog story-wise when it’s trying to break down these characters. The story does pick up in the second half, and it even makes up for a lot of the weaker character moments. I had a smile on my face when the credits rolled and could easily recommend this short story, issues and all.

Busting Makes Me Feel Okay

Mousebusters is an adventure game with point-and-click, puzzle, and shoot ’em up elements. The gameplay loop has you enter an apartment, look for the ghost, figure out how to lure it out, and then fight it. At the very least, the apartments are unique. No two apartments have the same ghost or way to lure them out. Some apartments require you to complete memory games, cooking games, and even a rhythm game. I do appreciate the variety, but there’s still room for improvement.

The ghost fights have the same praise and criticisms. The shoot ‘em up elements come into play here. You aim your gun and shoot the weak spots of the ghosts and any incoming attacks. After three shots, you have to reload, and you can only get hit three times too. I love how each fight has a different gimmick, but it quickly falls back into my main criticism. No matter what difficulty you select, each fight is easy. After a while, the fights feel like padding for playtime, and it can get boring. I never disliked my time, but I wish there was some more variety to the gameplay.

A Cute and Satisfying World

Mousebusters has a pixel-art look with vibrant colors. It gives the game this cute look that is a delight for the eyes. My praise carries over to all the characters as well. They each stand out and show so much character just in their models. I can say the same for the ghosts as well, with each having a great but distinct design. While I had some issues playing it, I never got tired of looking at the game.

In all, Mousebusters is a short and cute game that I had couple of issues with, but one I’m glad I played. I really liked the story, even if it was slow in the first half. The variety in levels and battles is nice, but they all felt too easy. I like all the characters, even if some hit harder than others. The art is a major highlight, helping the slower parts of the game. Give this a chance if you’re in the mood for a short adventure game. The game’s last hour more than makes up for the issues I had.

Lazy Witch’s Factory Gets a New Demo for Steam Next Fest

Lazy Witch's Factory

Phoenixx and MELTCLOCK have announced that a free demo for “run-based rogue-lite factory builder” Lazy Witch’s Factory is now available for PC via Steam. The new Lazy Witch’s Factory demo is available ahead of the June 2026 edition of Steam Next Fest, which takes place from June 16 to June 23.

Here’s an overview of the game, via Steam:

One Shift. One Factory. One Impossible Deadline.

Lazy Witch’s Factory is a run-based rogue-lite factory builder.

You have only a short time to build a factory, make deals with demons, and repay a ridiculous amount of debt.

Build fast.

Optimize with minimal resources.

Spaghetti lines and stopgap fixes are allowed.

Because when the timer hits zero, you’ll—

…ah, never mind.

Contracts Solve Everything (For a While)

Mine resources. Turn them into products. Sell them to pay off debt.

But it is not enough. Make contracts with demons.

Short on raw materials? Let’s tweak the recipe.

No more iron ore? Convert it into gems.

Short on cash? Just make it.

When the shift ends, everything resets — except what you learned.

Knowledge lets you spot better contracts and smarter synergies next run.

Middle management in hell is hell itself.

You play as Momoko, who signed up for “easy money” — and paid the price.

Your workers seem far more interested in personal fulfillment than productivity.

Whether they can be made to work properly depends entirely on you.

      • Salamanders think work is weight training. (It isn’t.)
      • Slimes enjoy pain a little too much. Unfortunately, that slows things down.

Eternal Life, Infinite Overtime

In the beginning, there was eternal life as punishment to sinners.

The manager Gehenna thought:

“Wonderful. This solves the overtime problem.”

You were cast down into a truly hellish work environment

Fortunately — by Hell’s standards — not every demon is your boss.

Bored by immortality, the arch-demons now offer their help with your factory operations, each in their own highly questionable way.

    • Leviathan, a researcher, improves efficiency by “experimental pollution.”
    • Mammon, the central banker, specializes in “creative accounting.”

Welcome to hell. Please clock in.

Game Features

      • A frantic run to pay off your debt within a 30-minute time limit
      • Highly replayable gameplay that inflates production power through “factory design techniques” x “pick-and-choose strategies for random upgrades”
      • Diverse strategies based on sponsor character combinations
      • Cute characters and sarcastic humor
