Koei Tecmo and Team NINJA have announced Dead or Alive 6 Last Round, a new version of the Dead or Alive 6 fighting game with updated features and character balancing. Like its predecessor, Dead or Alive 6 Last Round will be available with a free-to-play version, allowing PlayStation 5, PC, and Xbox Series X|S players to dive right in when it launches on June 25.

Here’s an overview of the game, via Koei Tecmo:

DEAD OR ALIVE 6 Last Round is the definitive version of DEAD OR ALIVE 6, a title that shipped over 900,000 copies worldwide, with over 8 million downloads of the F2P edition. Last Round features the original 24 characters alongside five characters from the game’s DLC lineup, including Nyotengu, Phase 4, Momiji, Rachel, and Tamaki. In addition, popular characters like Kasumi and Marie Rose will receive a total of five costumes based on other Team NINJA titles such as NINJA GAIDEN 3 Razor’s Edge and DEAD OR ALIVE Xtreme Venus Vacation. An all-new Photo Mode feature has also been added enabling players to capture every angle of their favorite fighters in action thanks to a full set of features including “character position” and “pose selection”!

DEAD OR ALIVE 6 Last Round has been updated for the latest hardware, while giving players the ability to carry over DLC costumes, premium tickets, and save data from the DEAD OR ALIVE 6 standard edition.

The free-to-play version, DEAD OR ALIVE 6 Last Round Core Fighters, is scheduled to release simultaneously alongside the standard edition. Kasumi, Marie Rose, Honoka, and NiCO will be available for use in the F2P version at launch. Photo Mode and online modes** “DOA Quest” and “DOA Central” will also be playable.

Further updates, including new costumes and new characters are scheduled to be released post-launch across both the standard and free-to-play versions throughout the coming year. More details will be announced in the near future.

What’s more, Koei Tecmo and Team NINJA are working on the next Dead or Alive game. A brief teaser trailer was revealed featuring Ninja Gaiden protagonist Ryu Hayabusa and series staple character Kasumi.

More than three years ago, Team NINJA held a G-STAR 2022 keynote in Busan, South Korea, revealing plans to reboot the Dead or Alive and Ninja Gaiden franchises. At the time, Team NINJA president Fumihiko Yasuda outlined plans to reboot popular game series such as Dead or Alive and Ninja Gaiden after the releases of Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty and Rise of Ronin. Yasuda made the announcement near the end of the keynote with a slide reading “Team NINJA’s Future – Reboot of Popular Series,” which depicts Dead or Alive and Ninja Gaiden

The final update for Dead or Alive 6 was released in March 2020. Dead or Alive 6 is currently available now for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam.
