Blair Witch was first announced at this years Microsoft Conference at E3, and now we finally get a glimpse of how you will be playing this game.
Developer Bloober Team describes Blair Witch as a first person psychological horror game. Included in the trailer is your trusty dog companion, Bullet, who will help you along the way as you issue commands for him like digging or seeking things out. Also featured are some far less adorable monsters in the woods, a particularly terrifying cabin, and lots of home video recordings that evoke the original film.
Blair Witch is inspired by the cinematic lore of Blair Witch, where you’ll experience a new story-driven psychological horror game that studies your reactions to fear and stress.
Blair Witch is set to release this year on August 30th for Xbox One and PC. Check out the terrifying trailer below!
It’s a brand new week so that means we get another fresh set of game discounts. Every week Microsoft and publishers discount numerous titles. Some of these titles require a Gold Membership to gain access to some of the discounts. Here’s a look at some of the deals this week.
Nintendo has been surprisingly supportive of their most recent Nintendo Labo kit, the Nintendo Labo VR kit. They have been updating various games such as Super Mario Odyssey, The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild, and Smash Bros. Ultimate from their wide catalog of first party titles. Along with this, they have been constantly releasing free DLC mini games for the Nintendo Labo VR kit software almost every week. Nintendo has just announced that Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker will be receiving Nintendo Labo VR support. As of right now, the trailer and the update is only available in Japan. The Japanese trailer seems to indicate that there will be four brand new levels specifically built for VR. This Nintendo Labo VR update should release in other regions very soon if time repeats itself.
Over the past two weekends, everyone with Xbox Live, Xbox Game Pass, or Gears 5 pre-order users got the chance to try Gears 5 in their official Tech Test. Thankfully as an owner of Xbox Game Pass for PC, I was one of those lucky people and played several hours of the test. One of our other contributors, Jason, also got the chance to play through it. You can read about his impressions of the Tech Test here. Without further adieu though, here’s what I thought of the Tech Test!
Going in, I gave a go at the new Bootcamp featured as a tutorial of sorts. It’s been a long time since I last got my hands on a Gears game, so I took the time to go through this. Overall it was a little bit too long for my tastes. Everything else about it though, felt really well done. The tutorial takes the form of calibrating new robot soldiers, and has a bit of humor thrown into the mix. These sort of small details help you get off on the right foot, while also giving a good laugh here and there. Along with that, the tutorial covers pretty much everything which was good for new/long returning Gears like myself.
Afterwards though, I hopped straight into the new Arcade Mode. This was easily the most unique part about the beta, and it was all featured within the classic Team Deathmatch. You essentially get a point every time you score a kill, and those points can let you buy different guns. One character can buy the Mulcher machine gun for example, while another can wield a massive hammer. For the characters I did play, all these different weapons felt really unique and enjoyable to use.
Regardless, I went with a classic Lancer user who had access to a DMR sort of weapon. I’m more of a peek out and die mid range fighter so that class suited me the most. The fluidity of that experience felt really awesome, and hit me with a pleasant surprise out of the gate. With all this in mind, I’d say that Arcade Mode is an excellent addition to the game and I can’t wait to see how the evolve upon this come the September release.
Finally, I got the chance to hop into a few games of the Ranked Mode. This mode has you using a set host of weapons and playing on KOTH or Escalation. You complete 5 of either mode, and are placed in a rank which you can increase or decrease depending on your performance. This isn’t much different from the way Gears 4 did ranked, but it was enjoyable (and rather stressful) nonetheless. I couldn’t do much ranked since the stress hit me hard, but I still enjoyed my time with it. We’re going to go ahead and skip over where I placed because that’s not important.
Jokes aside though, I’d say this Tech Test proves very promising for the feature of Gears of War. The new Arcade Mode feels really fresh for the franchise, and the returning gameplay feels better than ever. Needless to say, I’ll be one of the people downloading Gears 5 and come the start of September. If you want to join me, you can either play through Xbox Game Pass on September 10th or pre-order the game here!
If the exclusivity switch for Phoenix Point wasn’t enough bad news, this surely is. Snapshot Games staff member UnstableVoltage took to their forums today to let fans know of the delay plus some information for backers.
First of all, the game has been delayed all the way to December which is a substantial leap from its September release date. This is reportedly in order to keep crunch to a minimum along with hit the high standards they’re hoping for. For that reason it is good, but it still has to be a shame for those excited to play the game. Thankfully, their desire is for the game to be “one of your favorite games of all time” which means it will hopefully be worth the wait.
Despite that bad news, there’s some good if you’re a backer of the game. On the original September 3rd release date, you will be receiving Backer Build 5! This is intended to not only let backers try a more polished version of the game, but also allow for more feedback before launch.
All in all, the game is still something worth being excited for (despite the exclusivity deal). Phoenix Point will release on PC and Xbox One sometime in December for $39.99.

Granblue Fantasy Versus is slated for a 2019 release for the PlayStation 4.
Over the weekend, Gematsu discovered a PEGI rating for DOOM 64 on PC and PS4. It has since been removed but Nightdive Studios (From a now deleted tweet) seems to be teasing the release. It’s safe to assume it would be coming to XBO and Switch as well because of the DOOM 1-3 re-release.
Nightdive is no stranger to picking up old properties and giving them an overhaul. IP’s such as Turok, System Shock and Blood are some notable examples. It would be amazing to see Nightdive and Bethesda collaborate together for this especially after the mishaps that happened with the DOOM 1 and 2 ports.
If you were looking to play through the Spyro Reignited Trilogy on the Switch, you might want to take advantage of this. The Nintendo eShop is now allowing players to pre-load the game, in order to avoid having to download at launch. This option is only available to those who have already purchased the collection. The game is going to be around 6GB, meaning you won’t have a long download time regardless.
In the Spyro Reignited Trilogy, you can play all three of the classic Spyro games remastered. The Spyro games themselves are platformers where you take control of a little dragon in order to defeat different enemies and progress through. They’re absolute classics, and the Reignited Trilogy is regarded as the prime way to get into them. The trilogy will be available on September 3rd for PC and Nintendo Switch for $40. If you’re looking to play right now though, it’s available for PS4 and Xbox One for the same price!
