Guilty Gear 2020 has been officially named to Guilty Gear Strive

Thanks to Arc System Works, the upcoming Guilty Gear 2020 game has a new name! The game is now named Guilty Gear Strive. Strive most likely refers to the new title being a sort of reinvention for the Guilty Gear franchise. So far, the confirmed characters for Guilty Gear Strive are:

  • Sol Badguy
  • Ky Kiske
  • May
  • Axl Low
  • Chipp Zanuff
  • Potemkin

Street Fighter V: Champion Edition announced, releasing February 14th, 2020

Capcom has announced Street Fighter V: Champion Edition. You can watch the brand new trailer below, as well as read all about the game.

Rule the ring with Street Fighter V: Champion Edition, the most robust version of the acclaimed fighting game! This all-new knockout edition includes all content (excluding Fighting Chance costumes, brand collaboration costumes and Capcom Pro Tour DLC) from both Street Fighter V and Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition and adds each character, stage and costume that released after Arcade Edition and will release with Champion Edition. In total: 40 characters, 34 stages and over 200 costumes!

Fighters can battle their way through a variety of exciting single-player and multi-player modes designed for players of all skill levels, including Story Mode, Arcade Mode, Team Battle, Ranked Match, Casual Match and more. In addition to the main game and the included characters, stages and costumes, new V-Skills for each character and a balance update will be released, adding new gameplay improvements and more depth to the combat system. Blaster Master Zero II – Copen DLC arrives on November 29th

Inti Creates has announced new DLC coming to Blaster Master Zero II! Copen from Gunvolt Chronicles: Luminous Avenger iX is coming to the game as a new DLC character! The DLC costs $1.99 and releases for PC and Switch. Here’s the latest trailer:

New Binding Blade characters join Fire Emblem Heroes in upcoming Guardians of Peace banner

Nintendo has released a new trailer for Fire Emblem Heroes, showing off new characters joining the game! This time, characters from Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade. In addition, the new banner brings a new paralogue story. Here are the list of characters and the trailer:

  • Brunnya (free as part of the upcoming Tempest Trials+ event)

Rogue Company runs at 60fps on Switch, supports crossplay and cross progression

Hi-Rez Studios has been supporting the Switch with stellar ports of Smite and Paladins, both running at 60fps. Their new IP, Rogue Company, runs at 60fps as well. On top of this, the game supports crossplay and cross progression! This means that playing between all versions should be seamless.

Mega Man Zero/ZX Collection delayed to February 25th 2020

After a long day of much news, we’ve got one more little tidbit. In a video posted to official Mega Man social media channels, series producer Kazuhiro Tsuchiya revealed that in order to keep up quality, the upcoming Mega Man Zero/ZX Collection would need to be delayed just over a month to February 25, 2020.

Luckily, this isn’t too bad of a delay. It’s certainly not an Animal Crossing situation. As always, we’ll keep you posted on any more updates!

October 2019 NPD: Fighting game sales are at an all time high thanks to Mortal Kombat 11 and Super Smash Bros Ultimate

Thanks to Mat Piscatella, we have NPD results for October 2019. Fighting games have reached an all time high in sales thanks to Super Smash Bros Ultimate and Mortal Kombat 11. 2019 has beaten the previous all time high in 2015 by 11%, a year which saw both Super Smash Bros for Wii U/3DS and Mortal Kombat X sell strongly.
