Its no surprise that Animal Crossing: New Horizons is selling strong in Japan, but the sell through rate is impressive! New Horizons has sold through 90% of its initial shipment in Japan, reaching over 1.8 million copies sold in its first week. It outperformed Pokemon Sword and Shield’s week one sales figures as well! Worldwide sales data for New Horizons should come in Nintendo’s next financial briefing. These results will tell how New Horizons is fairing outside of Japan, which should be impressive in that regard.

The final printed volume of Dengeki PlayStation included an interview with Square Enix director Tetsuya Nomura. The interview sheds some light on upcoming developments in the Kingdom Hearts series. One of the main talking points in the interview was the involvement of multiple teams working on the Kingdom Hearts series. Recently, the Kingdom Hearts Union X (Cross) team announced Kingdom Hearts Dark Road, a Xehanort story focused game. In addition to Dark Road, two more Kingdom Hearts projects are coming from other teams at Square Enix. Here’s the official excerpt from KHInsider:
-Along with the release of Re Mind, “Dark Road” was announced…
Nomura: KH Dark Road is a new service developed by the KH Union Cross (X) team in a double-feature operation. KHUX itself will continue, but Dark Road will shed light on Xehanort’s past, so please pay attention to both. We talked about this in the 7 Lights and 13 Darknesses Q&A but aside from the fact that Dark Road is a new project by the KHUX team, there are 2 other projects being worked on by other teams and one of them will be coming pretty soon, so please wait just a little a longer.
It seems like fans won’t have to wait much longer to see another new addition to the Kingdom Hearts series. Stay tuned at Final Weapon for the latest Japanese gaming news!

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is a magical game. New Horizons was one of my most anticipated games of all time. Seeing it teased all those years ago made me lose it. I waited over 8 years for a sequel to Animal Crossing: New Leaf, and after the Wii U didn’t get a proper Animal Crossing game I was starving for a new mainline game. Let me tell you that Nintendo delivered. I have been glued to my screen for these few weeks and can’t leave. Everything about this game calls to me, and I keep wanting to progress, and make my island the best it can be.
The Pinnacle of Gameplay
The gameplay of Animal Crossing: New Horizons is the best in the series. It takes everything from the previous games and amplifies it up to 11. The amount of customization, and gameplay variation is insane. The ability to terraform your island to whatever you see fit was always a pipe dream that I never thought would happen. Some may dislike it, but I absolutely love the addition. The addition of official pathways is remarkable. Players and even myself would just use custom designs in previous games, but the fact that they implemented it into the main game is amazing. They listened to all of the major complaints and issues players had, and made sure to fix or give the ability to the players. This is your island, and Nintendo gives you everything you need to make it YOURS.
It wouldn’t be Animal Crossing if it didn’t have fishing, bug catching and trying to collect every fossil for the Museum. These aspects are what I love most about the Animal Crossing series. I have spent the majority of my time over the years, trying to 100% the Museum, so being able to start fresh is great. Plus it is always nice to see the new species and fossils they add. It just makes me happy knowing I caught a rare fish or bug, and I can immediately run over to the Museum to donate it. Especially after catching the Stringfish. That is an accomplishment I want to remember for years to come.

Decorating your perfect Island or Home!
Animal Crossing: New Horizons allows players to put any type of furniture in the overworld. In previous installments when you would throw a piece of furniture down, it would just be the standard Animal Crossing Leaf. In New Horizons, if you throw down a Ranch Table, it will actually pop out as such. This opens the floodgates with the amount of customization you can do to the island itself. You can make your island whatever you want with the terraforming, and furniture you pick. A medieval style island? Go ahead! The possibilities are endless!
Furniture and Fences?! Oh my!
Decorating your home is just as great. Having the ability to hang almost anything on the walls, and multi selecting items is amazing. The option to move furniture without actually making your character move it is very nice. Bringing all the perks of Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer to this game was such a smart move. They were implemented into New Leaf as one final update, but having it here is so much better. Once again they expanded on it, and it turned out spectacular.
Only a sample of the things you can customize!
The art of Character Creation
Not only can you customize yourself, but even your Nook Phone!
New Horizons allows players to have any hairstyle they choose. So male villagers can have female hairstyles, and female villagers can have male hairstyles. Beforehand this wasn’t the case at all. They locked the styles between the genders, and the only way to get the other was to create another character. New Horizons is filled with this, and it is amazing to see. Nintendo gives freedom everywhere in this game and it is a blessing. Any villager can wear makeup and choose their own eye shape, nose shape, and even their smile. It is a breath of fresh air having the ability to do all this. The best part is you can change it all up from either your tent or home with ease.
The Music by K.K. himself
Animal Crossing: New Horizons has some of the best music in the entire series. I love to casually listen to Animal Crossing music when I’m working, or reading, and this game just adds onto that playlist. The nice calm music when it’s raining, or when it is night time and the island is asleep. It sucks me in, and I am just transported into this world, and the music comforts me. It is not bombastic, but just pure relaxation, and that is what I want from Animal Crossing. I want to feel like I am on a deserted island that I need to make my own, and New Horizons delivers on that.
Multiplayer
Hanging out with friends catching rare fish!
It wouldn’t be Animal Crossing these days without multiplayer. Thankfully New Horizons delivers on it. While there are some load times if you are inviting 7 others over, other than that the online is great! Opening the gates is like any other Animal Crossing, but this time you can set up codes, invite only friends, or even best friends. The codes are new every time, but they are small and easy to remember. Never have I run into an issue with lag while visiting friends islands. Switch Online can be hit or miss, so it is nice to not have any lag problems. Other than that playing online is liking playing by yourself or locally with someone. You can fish, catch bugs, chop down trees, or even dig up fossils. The only thing you can not do is decorate your island while having visitors.
Meteor shower and fishing with friends. The life!
Faults
I have only two faults with the game, and only one of them is major. That being that New Horizons doesn’t support Cloud Saves. I believe this is a really bad move from Nintendo. Most players will put hundreds of hours into the game, and if something happens all of that will be gone. Nintendo did say that if anything happens to the Switch system itself, they’ll back it up for the player, but that won’t be ready for launch even. I understand they don’t want players cheating and such, but for casual players this is a huge missed opportunity. Honestly I don’t want to put a year’s worth of time into this game to possibly never see it again. I can only hope they change their minds on this.
Moving onto the second fault I have with Animal Crossing: New Horizons is that I haven’t been able to experience the entire game’s content. To truly experience it all, I would need to play for an entire year. Now this is something I will be doing, but it is hard to judge the entire game when you can’t access everything in such a short time frame. Rest assured from what I have played this game is excellent from head to toe, and I can’t wait for all the events they have planned.
Okay that is all the time I got. I’ve gotta get back to playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons on my Nintendo Switch!
This game is breathtaking at every turn
I was blown away at Animal Crossing: New Horizons that I am truly speechless. With only one fault, this game is nearly perfect in my eyes. The amount of customization they have given us is next level, and I can’t wait to experience the rest of the year. Summer, Fall, and Winter await me on my island, and I can’t wait for them to come. Animal Crossing: New Horizons is a must buy for the Switch. I wouldn’t want anyone missing out on the greatness that is this game.
