Aniplex has announced Sword Art Online the Movie – Integral Domain –, a brand new original film set to release in 2028. This project is the original movie that was revealed back in 2022, now given a key visual and official name. The film is being produced by A-1 Pictures and Psyde Kick Studio, a spin-off studio of A-1 set to give focus and creative freedom to younger creators.
The official website for Sword Art Online states that the film is original and will occur after the Alicization arc. It’s worth noting that the production committee is titled the “SAO MOVIEII Project”, which lends well to the fact that this original film will likely function similarly to Ordinal Scale. It’s possible Integral Domain will serve as the bridge to Unital Ring, the next major arc of Sword Art Online.
