    Story

Asuha Senahara, a self-proclaimed genius gambler, is a wanderer.
Amidst the tables of cards and dice, it is she alone who snatches the chips at stake.
One day, she learns of the “gambling district”, a special ward where gambling holds influence above all else.

The “Witches” – a group of the most extraordinary gamblers rule over the place – treat Asuha to the taste of defeat; something she was unfamiliar with.
They exercised not luck, not skill, but dirty tricks, such that felled Asuha to the depths of the abyss.

As a self-proclaimed genius gambler, Asuha becomes determined to take down the Witches.
The Coliseum is the battlefield. The challenger is Asuha Senahara. The chips are on the table, and the Witches are ready to be exposed.

NOROI KAGO: the Grudged Domain Launches in Early Access this January

NOROI KAGO: the Grudged Domain demo

Toei Animation and developer Toydium announced GeGeGe no Kitarō-based survival horror game NOROI KAGO: the Grudged Domain launches in Steam Early Access on January 23, 2025.

Lastly, here’s an overview of the game, via Toei Animation:

NOROI KAGO: the Grudged Domain is a survival co-op horror game based around the theme of yokai. These are supernatural beings which stem from traditional Japanese folklore. The game allows for co-operative play for up to four players where the aim is to escape from an enclosed space in which yokai roam.

    Key Gameplay Features

    J-Horror Fans Get Ready!

Players must break free from the grasp of the cursed realm. Cooperation is key as you’ll need to work closely with your teammates to truly survive the yokai.

Feel The Fear Through A Distinctive Art Style

The game is inspired by the chilling atmosphere of Japanese horror films. Immerse yourself in a unique art style, crafted to showcase the strong contrast between light and shadow. Much of the work is derived from Shigeru Mizuki, the original author of the manga “GeGeGe no Kitaro”. Every unsuspecting yokai creeping through the shadows is sure to incite more fear.

    The Curse That Eats Away

Yokai aren’t the only creatures you have to worry about. Throughout the realm, players will be inflicted by a curse, which gradually eats away at their bodies before turning them into half-demons. To break free from this curse, cooperation will be key.

    A Unique Experience Each Time

Map items and gimmicks will be placed in a different location with each play allowing for unique experiences. These items can help you escape the realm, hold back the yokai and even revive fallen allies.

    EDEN.schemata(); Gets Delayed to 2025

PLAYISM, WSS Playground, and illuCalab announced sci-fi mystery adventure game EDEN.schemata(); will launch in 2025 for PC via Steam. The game was originally planned to launch in 2024, but more time is needed for quality improvements.

“Right now, we’re very pleased with what we’ve been making,” producer Daichi Saito said. “It’s shaping up to be a great game. But we also realized that in order to make it as great as it could be, we’ll need a little more time. I can’t help but want everyone to understand how good this game is as soon as possible, but it can’t be rushed. I’m sorry to everyone who’s looking forward to the game. We’ll definitely make it the best game it can be, so please continue to look forward to release just a little longer.”

Here’s an overview of EDEN.schemata();, courtesy of PLAYISM:

    The Story

    “Nice to meet you… again?”

An android named Eve speaks to you, in front of a headless corpse apparently known as “the Professor”.

Completely devoid of any sort of memory, you and Eve—an android and the Professor’s apparent killer—must uncover the truth of what really happened here.

Use your powers of deduction to unravel the mystery of this locked laboratory, revealing one truth after another.

We hope you enjoy this all-new type of mystery—the kind that’s only possible in a video game.

    Ever-Changing UI Design

At first, it’s a simple point-and-click adventure game where you use keywords to progress the story, but the UI and game design in general will actually change in accordance with your game progress.

The story and UI work together as the general game design gradually transforms, providing a brand new, almost magic trick-like game experience.

A Story that Unfolds through Multiple Playthroughs

This game has a “skip” function, but not a “save” function. The story loops and branches off constantly with every playthrough, and there are multiple endings for you to uncover.
    Entirely Hand-Drawn Original Animation

The steampunk-style artwork and the character animations present throughout the game are entirely hand-drawn by a single animator, Yutaro. Simply observing the animations and watching Eve come to life is already a breathtaking experience.
