Cyberpunk 2077 Live-Action Film in Development at Paramount Pictures

Fresh off the heels of Paramount acquiring Warner Bros. Discovery.

Published:

According to a report from Deadline, Paramount Pictures is developing a Cyberpunk 2077 live-action film alongside producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura. Currently, details about the film’s director, writer, and cast are unknown.

The announcement comes just a few days after Paramount Pictures officially acquired Warner Bros. Discovery, and incorporated its film studios as part of the newly formed Skydance Corporation. Bonaventura has previously produced entries in the Transformers and G.I. Joe franchises, as well as Madame Web. Paramount will likely reveal information about the film’s staff and story at a later date. In the meantime, Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition is available on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Mac, and PC.

On October 20, another adaptation of Cyberpunk 2077 will release—Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, which will premiere on Netflix. The Cure will perform the opening theme of the anime, titled “10:15 Saturday Night.” Petite Meller will perform an original track for the ending theme, titled “Watson.” This is in addition to the “You Can’t Run From Me” song by Rico Nasty. She created the song specifically for Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2. Another track that the anime will highlight is “A Rusty Dream” by DOUDOU (Du Binger / Du Feier). Yuyunhsieh recorded, mixed, and mastered the song.

Here’s the cast of the anime series, via Netflix:

  • Clancy Brown/Kentaro Tone as Weak
    • “Once known as “King,” a veteran edgerunner at the top of his game, Weak now lives in the shadow of his former glory.”
  • Nazeeh Tarsha/Koki Uchiyama as D
    • “A Snake Nation netrunner with sharp technical skills and a sharper hunger for revenge, D hunts the killer who wiped out his clan.”
  • Kimoy Lee/Akari Kito as Talia
    • “Raised in corpo towers but hardened in Maelstrom’s grip, Talia is fiercely independent and steeped in the gang’s hyper-violent, chrome-obsessed culture.”
  • Valeria Rodriguez/Momoka Terasawa as Roman Carax
    • “Roman Carax is a young cinephile chasing real stories in a city that’s abandoned film for braindance. Obsessed with documenting truth, he shadows the lives of others — only to learn that unlike his favorite reels, Night City’s stories are messy, brutal, and rarely tied up with a clean ending.”
