At Tokyo Game Show 2026, I had the chance to attend a closed-door session covering Fate/EXTRA Record. Following a live gameplay demonstration and presentation regarding specifics of the game, we had the opportunity to ask questions of Aniplex Co., Ltd. Staff.
Here, it was asked if Aniplex is considering making a new game in the Fate series following Fate/EXTRA Record. In response, Aniplex Co., Ltd. Staff shared that they cannot pinpoint whether there is a plan in place right now, but “a new game is something we are actively considering.” However, the representative continued, stating that before any decisions are made by Aniplex, it is ultimately up to Type-Moon. It’s worth noting that this question was focused on Fate as a whole, so whether a new game could be a visual novel, RPG, or something else entirely is anyone’s guess.
In the same Q&A session, Aniplex said there has not been a decision yet on whether to bring Fate/EXTRA CCC to modern platforms via a port, remaster, or remake. Unlike Fate/EXTRA, an English version of CCC was never released.
Fate/EXTRA Record will launch on January 28, 2027, for Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam. Physical pre-orders for Fate/EXTRA Record will be available through the Marvelous USA Online Store and participating retailers for Nintendo Switch and PS5, starting at $59.99 for the Standard Edition. The Nintendo Switch 2 Standard Edition will cost $69.99, with the game fully on cartridge.
