A new website for the upcoming anime Aoki Denshō Welsh & Shedar (The Azure Legend: Welsh & Shedar) from French studio Ankama has confirmed that it will premiere on October 2. It also announced casting and staff members.

The newly announced cast members are:
- Rikuya Yasuda (Mayonaka Heart Tune) as Welsh
- Yūki Kaji (Attack on Titan, My Hero Academia) as Shedar
Staff revealed include:
- Director – Naoki Horiuchi
- Character Designer and Chief Animation Director – Saori Nakashiki
- Chief Animation Directors – Yoshiaki Tsubata and Yuki Ikeda
- Color Key Artist – Eri Suzuki
- Art Setting – Lucas Cisterne
- Sound Director at TO Books – Jun Watanabe
- Composers – Pierre-Jean Beaudoin and Jose Pavli
- Japanese Script Supervisor Kenichi Yamashita
Studio Massket will produce the series. The series creator is Tot, who is also in charge of scripts and story outline. Aoki Denshō Welsh & Shedar will premiere on October 2 on Tokyo MX at 9:25 p.m. JST (8:25 a.m. EDT). Crunchyroll describes the series as follows:
The story of Aoki Densho Welsh & Shedar follows Welsh, a teenage boy from the country who loves to cook, and Shedar, a young prince who is destined to become king one day. When the two young men with very different lives are thrown together by a chance encounter, the wheels of fate begin to turn, and soon they must work together to bring about a peaceful future by stopping a cruel despot from conquering the world.
Ankama has previously been focused on video games, specifically MMORPGS such as Dofus and Wakfu, the latter of which has an anime adaptation. Previous animation projects include the film Mutafukaz, released in France in 2018.
