Nintendo has officially released system update Version 23.0.0 for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. This update adds a few new features to Game Chat, but the main addition is VRR support for TV Mode. This can be utilized in the new VRR Settings menu under Display.
Previously, VRR was only available in handheld mode, so this update now allows for support across both play modes. For those unfamiliar, VRR, or Variable Refresh Rate, matches your display’s refresh rate to the game in real time.
You can view the snippet from the Japanese System Update notes below:
VRR output is now supported in TV mode.
- When both the software and the TV support it, the video will be output at a refresh rate that matches the game’s processing speed.
-
- An update to the Nintendo Switch 2 Dock is required to enable this feature.
Beyond VRR, transfers between two Nintendo Switch 2 models are now available. If you’re planning to purchase the new Zelda-themed Nintendo Switch 2, rest assured you will now be able to move your games and content over to the new system.
