TOHO has released a new trailer for Godzilla Minus Zero, showcasing its 1.43:1 IMAX aspect ratio. It will be the first Japanese movie ever filmed for IMAX.
The trailer highlights the returning characters from Minus One, and teases some new characters as well. Most interestingly, the presence of yellow lightning and a very distinct roar seems to imply the presence of King Ghidorah. More details about which, if any, of Godzilla’s classic rivals will make an appearance is still scarce. Check out the new IMAX trailer for Godzilla Minus Zero below:
Ryûnosuke Kamiki and Minami Hamabe will reprise their roles as Kôichi Shikishima and Noriko Ôishi, respectively. Further, Hidetaka Yoshioka reprises his role as Kenji Noda, Yuki Yamada returns as Shiro Mizushima, Sakura Ando reprises her role as Sumiko Ota, and Miou Tanaka returns as Tatsuo Hotta. In addition, Min Tanaka joins the cast as new character Kanji Murakami, a “biologist carrying deep psychological scars from the war.”
Takashi Yamazaki will return to direct the sequel, with TOHO producing it. Shirogumi will be in charge of the VFX. The film is also filmed with IMAX cameras. Lastly, Godzilla Minus Zero will release on November 3 in Japan, and premiere in North America and other regions on November 6. Its predecessor, Godzilla Minus One, is available now for streaming on Netflix. The black and white version, Godzilla Minus Color, is also accessible on the service.
