The Relic: First Guardian is Now Available for PC and PS5, More Patches in the Works

Technical fixes and performance improvements are coming.

Perp Games and South Korean studio Project Cloud Games have released the PlayStation 5 and PC (Steam) versions of action RPG The Relic: First Guardian alongside a day one update full of crucial bug fixes and changes. Project Cloud Games is working on additional patches, improvements and support for The Relic: First Guardian as well, including performance and technical fixes. 

Here’s a list of changes with the day one update for The Relic: First Guardian:

Field and Environmental Improvements

  • Improved the field structure and traversal flow in Chapter 1, including changes to the layout of certain paths 
  • Added further environmental details throughout Chapter 1 
  • Improved the field structure and traversal flow of the plains area in Chapter 2, including changes to the layout of certain paths 
  • Significantly expanded environmental detail throughout Chapter 2 
  • Improved the field structure and traversal flow in Chapter 3, including changes to the layout of certain paths 
  • Significantly expanded environmental detail throughout Chapter 3 
  • Completed lighting work in areas where it had not previously been implemented 
  • Improved landscape and terrain details across the game 
  • Improved existing monster placements and added more monster encounters 
  • Significantly increased the number of materials and collectible items placed throughout the fields 

Exploration and Reward Improvements 

  • Significantly increased the amount of currency obtained by interacting with abandoned campsites 
  • Improved the rewards players can discover and obtain while exploring the fields 

Event and Content Improvements 

  • Reviewed and improved progression across all events 
  • Fixed issues that could prevent certain events from progressing correctly 
  • Improved event presentation and overall progression stability 

Combat and Monster Improvements 

  • Improved the animation and activation speed of two-handed weapon skills 
  • Adjusted monster attack damage and improved combat balance 
  • Improved monster animations 
  • Adjusted monster placement to improve the flow and density of field combat 

Voice and Audio Improvements

  • Fixed missing or incorrectly implemented voice files 
  • Ensured that voice files play correctly in-game 
  • Fixed inconsistencies between Field Page text and the corresponding voice-over 

Localization Improvements 

  • Completed the full localization pass 
  • Fixed untranslated and incorrectly translated text 
  • Fixed issues where code strings or incorrect text could appear in-game 
  • Improved consistency across languages, including sentence formatting, line breaks, proper nouns, and terminology 

The Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X|S versions of The Relic: First Guardian will follow up at a later date this year. A physical version for the PlayStation 5 version will release on September 4.

Final Weapon reviewed The Relic: First Guardian and gave it a 3.5/5 score, noting that the game “is an engaging new action game that takes cues from the Soulslike genre while incorporating medieval and Korean folklore into the mix.”
