SEGA has released a Patch Notes Preview trailer for update 2.0.0 of Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, releasing on November 3 to kick off the game’s Year Two. The update will release alongside a Godzilla DLC.

The update mode will add Offline Mode: Rival Duel, a single-player mode where players will compete in 1v1 races against collab characters, such as the previously announced Bayonetta. The mode will feature the Dual Boost mechanic, which is exclusive to Rival Duels. The update also adds a new system known as Super Slot, which gives players more customization via seven slots for gadgets. It will further add 15 new gadgets. PvP mode has been adjusted too, with adjustments made to gadgets/racing stats, shorter cooltime for rings to reappear, machine types, and computer players.

Free matches and a new menu will be available as well, alongside the new Rivals and Play Missions features. Furthermore, a new Exchange Shop will be present, and SEGA will add new music to the game from some of its prior fighting games. The update will also allow for Festivals to last for 10 days from now on. It will add new collaboration decals and several new features. SEGA will reveal details about the update when it releases on November 3.

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is available now for Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. Final Weapon reviewed Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds and gave it a 4.5/5 score, noting that “there’s very little in the way between the player and the game’s content, making for a refreshing pick-up-and-play experience that will satisfy players of all ages and skill levels. CrossWorlds is a kart racer that deeply understands the appeal of the genre and manages to finish in first place because of that.”

Players who own the Digital Deluxe Edition or $29.99 Season Pass will have access to the DLC, which is also available separately for $5.99.  Bayonetta is the first free character of Year Two for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, and she will come with her Butterfly Witch machine and special emotes/sounds. Alongside Bayonetta, the first two paid DLC packs for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Year Two will center around the Godzilla and EVANGELION franchises. The Godzilla Pack will kick off Year Two on November 3, while Virtual Sanrio Puroland, SEGALAND, Persona, and Final Fantasy VII Remake Packs will also be released throughout Year Two.
