Fans will need to wait a bit longer for the newest mainline entry in the series.

In an interview with The Game Business, Amazon gaming head Jeremy Gattis announced that Tomb Raider: Catalyst has been delayed to 2028. The reason for the delay is unknown.

Specifically, Gattis stated that “[Legacy of Atlantis] comes February 12, and then we’ll follow on in 2028 with the next one.” Initially, Amazon Game Studios and Crystal Dynamics stated that Tomb Raider: Catalyst will release in 2027. Now, though, it seems that fans may need to wait a little bit longer to play the next mainline entry in the series. Catalyst takes place in Northern India, and according to the official Tomb Raider website, follows Croft after a mythical cataclysm unveils ancient secrets and awakens guardian forces. It will utilize Unreal Engine 5 and will supposedly feature the largest world in a Tomb Raider game. It promises to deliver a platforming playground with plenty of verticality and intricate puzzles.

In the meantime, Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis will release on February 12, 2027 for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. If you pre-order the game, which costs $60, you’ll get the Survivor outfit themed around the Tomb Raider reboot trilogy and 48-hour early access. Additionally, the deluxe edition (which costs $70), offers the Parisian outfit and a post-launch story DLC pack. Both outfits will be an early unlock and can be retrieved even without the extra purchase. Further, check out our preview of Legacy of Atlantis from Summer Game Fest 2026
