Two Tomb Raider games will be released in 2026 and 2027—the first will be Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, a reimagining of the original game. Tomb Raider: Catalyst, the second title, will be a brand-new adventure.

This announcement is a part of The Game Awards 2025. Trailers for Catalyst and Legacy of Atlantis were revealed alongside the announcement. These two titles will be the first new Tomb Raider entries since 2018’s Shadow of the Tomb Raider, ignoring the recent remasters of the first six games.

Tomb Raider: Catalyst is a new adventure spanning across Northern India. According to the official Tomb Raider website, the game follows Croft after a mythical cataclysm unveils ancient secrets and awakens guardian forces.

The game will utilize Unreal Engine 5 and will supposedly feature the largest world in a Tomb Raider game. It promises to deliver a platforming playground with plenty of verticality and intricate puzzles.

Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis Announcement Trailer

The Tomb Raider website says Legacy of Atlantis aims to capture the excitement of Lara’s first adventure with modern visuals, storytelling, and game design. It also says the new game will honor the spirit and atmosphere of the original title.

Both games will feature the voice of Alix Wilton Regan as Lara Croft. She is known for her performances in Dragon Age: Inquisition, Cyberpunk 2077, and Mass Effect 3. The website claims her performance adds fresh spirit and depth to Lara’s character.

Crystal Dynamics is handling the development of Legacy of Atlantis and Catalyst, the studio responsible for every mainline series entry since Legend. However, Legacy of Atlantis will also be developed in partnership with Flying Wild Hog. Both upcoming titles will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.

The Game Awards 2025 marks the 11th year of the annual show, run and hosted by Geoff Keighley. This year, the nominees were led by Clair Obscur: Expedition 33Hades 2, Death Stranding 2: On The Beach, and Hollow Knight: Silksong.
