Recently, Brazil’s Ministry of Justice and Public Security posted a rating for an unannounced Metroid game, titled Metroid Ravenous. The rating has already been removed from the site.
Details about the leaked entry are currently extremely scarce. However, considering the rating, it is possible that Nintendo may officially unveil the game later this year. Additionally, it’s likely that Ravenous will serve as the next entry in the 2D Metroid series, following the events of 2021’s Metroid Dread. Only time will tell if and when players will be able to get a first look at Ravenous, and whether or not it is the only Metroid game that is releasing in the next few years.
In the meantime, the most recent mainline entry in the Metroid franchise, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, is available now for both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. The Metroid Prime 4: Beyond – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition includes two different graphics options, Quality Mode and Performance Mode, which output at 4K 60 FPS and 1080p 120 FPS, respectively. Both of these modes support HDR, and there’s even the option to play with mouse controls with Joy-Con 2. Final Weapon reviewed Metroid Prime 4: Beyond and gave it a 4.5/5 score, noting that the game’s “overall approach to gameplay and the narrative does a great job of evolving the series while staying true to what made it special in the first place.”
Lastly, Metroid Dread is available now on the Nintendo Switch. Those looking to catch up on the series before the next entry can also play Metroid Fusion, Super Metroid, and more via the Nintendo Switch Online service.
