Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter Version 1.07 'Legacy Patch' Corrects Localization and Terminology

GungHo Online Entertainment and Nihon Falcom have released the version 1.07 “Legacy Patch” for Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter with major adjustments to the game’s localization. Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter version 1.07 aligns terminology with other entries in the Trails series, including pronunciations of terms based on continuity and already-established world-building.

Thank you for your continuous support for Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter. We are grateful for all the feedback we have received since launch and are now excited to announce that a Legacy Patch has been released as part of the Ver. 1.07 update. Ahead of Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter’s release on September 17th, 2026, this localization update aligns key terminology with other entries in the Trails series.

Alongside our partners at Nihon Falcom, our goal for this patch was to ease the transition between Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter and later Trails titles. To achieve this, we prioritized updates to English terminology and pronunciations of terms based on how much they impacted continuity across the series.

We felt this was an important step in our goal to honor the expansive world-building of Trails and make Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter an accessible starting point for the series.

In our ongoing commitment to delivering the best experience possible, this Legacy Patch includes the following adjustments:

Localization Update Overview

Updated certain English voice and text to reflect legacy terminology
Updated certain English voice to reflect legacy pronunciations
Updated English UI and system text to reflect legacy terminology
Updated French and German text for increased accuracy and consistency
Updated certain voice and text lines to fix grammatical errors and improve dialogue flow

Adjusted English Terminology

Several major terms have been adjusted to align with terminology used in later titles in the series. Our overall goal with these updates was to align key in-game terminology and pronunciations with other titles in the Trails series. However, with the upcoming release of 2nd Chapter, we also felt it was important to preserve the experience of players who started the series with Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter as much as possible. With that goal in mind, terminology and character names exclusive to the Trails in the Sky games have been largely left unchanged.

A notable exception is the names of the Tetracyclic Towers, as these locations play a pivotal role in the story of 2nd Chapter, and thus have been adjusted to match the original games.

Please note that while we have updated most of the affected voice lines, a small number could not be revised and will remain as they are. We appreciate your understanding.

Other Adjusted English Terminology

- “Blade-Type” quartz names have been renamed to use the names of the status ailments they inflict, matching later entries in the series.
- “Shield-Type” quartz names have been renamed to “Guard-Type” quartz to avoid confusion with the quartz Shield (formerly Arts Defense).

Adjusted French and German Terminology

Minor adjustments were made to French and German for consistency and accuracy. Updated terminology is as follows:

Bug Fixes

- Fixed an issue in which the game would sometimes crash due to insufficient memory.
- Fixed issues in which the game would crash during certain operations.
- Fixed miscellaneous text errors.

*For those who wish to play the game without the above changes, a new 1.06.3 branch has been created featuring the previous version of the game on Steam. Please note the above is only available on the Steam® version of the game.

Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter will launch on September 17 for Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam. The Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PlayStation 5 versions will be available digitally and physically in the west, and in Japan, pre-orders include a digital copy for an HD remaster of The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky FC (not available for Steam).

The Standard Edition will be available for $59.99 ($64.99 for Nintendo Switch 2 Edition). Players can transfer their save data from Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter to receive the “Classic Style SC” outfits for Estelle and Joshua Bright, which are based on the attire they wore in the original The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky SC. Pre-orders for the Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter Golden Wings Edition are available now for $274.99 ($279.99 for Nintendo Switch 2 Edition) at Panax Store, while supplies last.
