The Pokémon Company has announced that a live-action short based on Pokémon UNITE is in development, and will release soon. It will commemorate the game’s 5-year anniversary.
News about the project, such as its cast, story, and release timing are currently unknown. However, more details about all of the above will likely launch closer to the game’s anniversary event on July 21. Pokémon UNITE is available now on the Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, iOS, and Android. The Google Play Store describes the game as follows:
Team up and take down the opposition in Pokémon’s first 5-on-5 strategic team battle game!
Join Trainers from around the world as they head for Aeos Island to compete in Unite Battles! In Unite Battles, Trainers face off in 5-on-5 team battles to see who can score the most points within the allotted time. Teamwork is key as you and your teammates defeat wild Pokémon, level up, evolve your own Pokémon, and work to prevent the opposing team from scoring points. Put your teamwork to the test, and take home the win!
Recently, The Pokémon Company revealed the newest entry in the mainline franchise: Pokémon Winds and Waves, which will release in 2027 for Nintendo Switch 2. The first trailer for both games teases new variants of Pikachu that wear unique costumes. While little details about the game’s central region are available, the first look teases jungles, beaches, lava areas, and the wide open sea.
It also teases that underwater areas may be fully explorable. Additionally, it reveals the three starters for both Winds and Waves. Browt is a grass chicken, Pombon is a fiery pomeranian, and Gecqua is a water gecko. More details about the region, unique Pokémon, and mechanics will surface at a later date.
