A lightweight headset can be a game-changer for any gaming setup, especially if you game on multiple consoles and PC. How about a gaming headset that works out of the box with clear stereo and no need for driver or app installs? Now that’s a winner. The LS500P Wireless Gaming Headset from PowerA’s LucidSound gaming and audio sub-brand is a new option in a market full of products that could confuse gamers about their next headset. Fortunately, the LS500P Wireless Gaming Headset is a straightforward solution for gamers with multiple systems, including PlayStation 5 and PC.
Weighing just 265 grams, the LS500P is practical, flexible, and comfortable. The ultra-lightweight frame makes it feel—for lack of a better word—weightless when worn. The LS500P is also discrete with its white finish, which matches the PlayStation 5’s outer shell perfectly. After a few hours of use, it’s clear that the headset was made for an easy pick-up-and-connect experience for console gamers, but the ease of use can make it a favorite and daily driver for just about anyone.
LucidSound LS500P Wireless Gaming Headset is Easy, Reliable, and Ready Out-of-the-Box
The LS500P is very comfortable to wear with its signature ear cushions thanks to breathable materials that reduce heat buildup around the ears. The volume and game chat balance wheels are located on each of the gaming headset’s earcups, so volume control is really straightforward. The power button also doubles as the Bluetooth pairing button, as pressing and holding it for a few seconds initiates pairing with your devices. You can toggle between Wireless and Bluetooth modes by pressing and holding the left earcup button and power button at the same time, and the integrated flip-to-mute mic is located on the bottom side of the left earcup.
The custom-tuned 50mm drivers are also great with clear and balanced stereo. Music certainly pops in this headset, and the three EQ modes—Signature Sound, Bass Boost, and FPS, let you hone in on specific sounds easily as well. You can cycle through these three EQ modes at any time by pressing the left on-earcup control button three times. I typically kept mine on Bass Boost so I can get the best sound out of music in the games I play, and it was certainly a joy to use in Forza Horizon 6 with its stellar soundtrack.
The left earcup button also lets you check the headset’s battery level or mute audio with simple button presses, while the right earcup lets monitor your mic volume for adjustments and you play/pause music tracks on any of your apps via Bluetooth, such as Spotify or YouTube Music. It’s seriously convenient to have all those features at your fingertips without software on PC, and on top of this, the headset can leverage the use of Tempest 3D Audiotech on PlayStation 5. You can still experience spatial audio by using software like Windows Sonic and Dolby Atmos, however.
I can’t understate how seamless the LS500P is. The headset is ready to connect out-of-the-box with its low-latency wireless dongle, which can be connected to devices with USB-C and USB-A. Once the dongle is connected to a PlayStation 5 or PC, the pairing process is also very simple. You’re instantly connect in wireless mode by simply pressing and holding the power button for a few seconds, but if you’d like to use the headset on other devices such as Nintendo Switch 2 or mobile, you can use Bluetooth mode instead.
A Fantastic and Affordable Headset
The LucidSound LS500P Wireless Gaming Headset is effective and affordable at its MSRP of $69.99. It’s built for long gaming sessions, but it’s also great for listening to music and podcasts while you work at home, too. The swivel earcups and adjustable design of the headset makes it a good fit for gamers. The overall design of the headset also accounts for glasses for a comfortable and seamless wear. For the price, the LS500P offers a lot of value and usability that makes it a compelling choice for gamers who aren’t audiophiles but still want a respectable headset.
The 800 mAh battery ensures that the headset lasts for quite a while on a single charge for long gaming sessions and calls. You can expect up to 50 hours in wireless mode with the dongle and up to 70 hours in Bluetooth mode before needing to charge it. This is really solid for a headset at this price point, and I’ve only had to charge it once in my first two weeks of use. If you have an efficient charging brick, charging the LS500P doesn’t take long at all.
Overall, the LS500P is a great mid-tier option if you’re not looking for the most premium audio experience. The pairing process is seamless, the fit is comfortable, and it still delivers a really good audio experience with some flexibility with its EQ Modes. You can’t go wrong with the LS500P if you’re wanting to get more value out of your gaming experience on PS5 and PC.
