The Nintendo Switch, and now Nintendo Switch 2, revolutionized handheld gaming over the past decade, but the Joy-Con controllers still leave something to be desired in certain games. It comes in a transparent blue casing reminiscent of those colorful Nintendo 64 controllers from back in the day, and the textured finish on the grips feel really good to hold. The rubberized Hall Effect thumbsticks also feel really good and are very comparable with those on the official Xbox Series X|S controller.
EasySMX M20 Bluetooth Mobile Gaming Controller is Convenient and Highly Effective
EasySMX’s M20 is essentially their answer to the Backbone One, but with more versatility and usability. The FN button on the controller allows you to enter pairing mode, and from there, it’s only a matter of holding down FN + one of the face buttons to pair to your desired (and supported) device. For example, you can pair the M20 to Nintendo Switch 2 in the console’s pairing menu by holding FN and A for a few seconds until you hear the controller rumble. It’s quick and simple, just the way I like it. In addition, the controller supports the wake-up function on Switch and Switch 2, so that’s a serious plus.
The actual feel of the controller is exactly what I expected—high-quality with a Nitro Deck-like comfort and ease of use. The Hall Effect thumbsticks virtually eliminate stick drift while adding much-needed stick travel distance in handheld mode. The controller comes with two D-pads that can be switched out at any time, and the extendable nature of the controller allows you to fit up to a iPad mini 7 or Y700.
Your device feels secure and safe thanks to the replaceable anti-slip pads as well, and the 400mAh battery capacity seems to punch above its weight with 8 hours of continuous play on a single charge. Since it charges with USB-C, the included cable or the official Nintendo-branded cable will both suffice. You can also charge and play at the same time, and that worked quite well with my U-GREEN Power Bank.
The EasySMX M20 Bluetooth Mobile Gaming Controller also features two remappable back buttons labeled M1 and M2, which can be configured by holding down FN and either button until the controller’s pink LED stays solid. From there, you can press the desired button to save its functionality to either back button or clear out any saved functions to start over. It’s a convenient feature, but it’s not one I’d use outside of shooters or other games that would require fast inputs. It’s worth noting that this feature may be limited on Android in a game-by-game basis, however. The controller also supports an X-input mode for mobile and PC, and this is automatically switched on when wired. Surprisingly, the controller does work well on PC since the controller puts your hands in a comfortable and natural position to begin with.
One of my few critiques of the controller is the face-button layout itself. The controller has the traditional Xbox button layout, but this product is clearly catered toward Nintendo Switch and Switch 2, especially in terms of functionality. The A button functions like the B button, the X button functions like the Y button, and vice versa. This isn’t a big issue, but if you ever look down at your controller, you might get confused for a split second before reminding yourself that its using the Xbox layout instead of Nintendo. Besides that, the lack of a Game Chat button on the controller is an inconvenience, but it’s not a glaring omission by any means. Instead of a Game Chat button, there’s a Turbo button, which could prove useful in shoot ’em ups.

At its $60 MSRP, the EasySMX M20 Bluetooth Mobile Gaming Controller is a great controller for Switch 2 gamers wanting a more comfortable setup for the console’s growing library of shooters, including Cyberpunk 2077 and Modern Warfare 4. The wired 1000Hz mode and Bluetooth 125Hz polling modes ensure each button press, trigger pull, and stick move is quick and accurate, too. This certainly applies in mobile games that leverage full use of a controller, including Destiny Rising, too. Mobile gamers will be pleased without having to pay an insane premium. The overall build quality and comfort make the M20 an affordable and enticing option for Nintendo gamers as well, and I definitely recommend it.
