Santa Monica Games have finally revealed the next entry in the God of War franchise, titled God of War Laufey. Additionally, a 20-minute gameplay trailer for the game has released.

God of War Laufey will feature Laufey, also known as Faye, as the main protagonist. Faye is the mother of Atreus and wife of Kratos, and wields the power of the Jotnar and a new sword in this journey across the afterlife of the Gods, known as the Everywhen. Combat is fast-paced and balances elements from the original God of War trilogy and the Norse saga. The game will star Deborah Ann Woll (Daredevil) as Faye, Perlina Lau as Rue, the guardian of Faye’s sword, and Jack Quaid (The BoysScream) as the mysterious cube Phranque. Ariel Lawrence directs the game, with Cory Barlog serving as head of creative.

Introducing Faye

Currently, the release date and release window for God of War Laufey is unknown. In the meantime, the PlayStation Blog reveals more details about the upcoming release:

Death was supposed to be the end, but for Laufey (Faye), warrior and wife to Kratos, a new adventure is just beginning. Awakening unexpectedly in a strange land after her funeral, Faye discovers the plans she put in place to protect Kratos and Atreus are now at risk.

To save the ones she loves, Faye must fight through the afterlife of the gods — the Everywhen — where ruthless gods from across mythology vie for power in a land overflowing with dangerous magic.
