Embracer Group has announced that it is splitting into two separate companies in 2027: Embracer and Fellowship Entertainment. Fellowship Entertainment will focus on the various IP properties under its banner.
The companies under Fellowship Entertainment’s stewardship will include 4A Games, Crystal Dynamics, Dambuster Studios, Dark Horse Media, Eidos-Montréal, Fishlabs, Flying Wild Hog Studios, Gunfire Games, Middle-earth Enterprises, Redoctane Games, and Warhorse Studios. Some of the franchises they will handle are Darksiders, Dead Island, Metro, Lord of the Rings, Tomb Raider, and more. Additionally, according to Lars Wingefors, chair of the board of Embracer Group, Fellowship Entertainment will explore working with partners to cultivate some of their lesser-known IPs.
Specifically, he stated the following: “Apart from the largest IPs we will more actively be exploring external partnership around our roster of other well-known IPs such as Saints Row, Legacy of Kain, Deus Ex, Red Faction, The Mask, Thief, TimeSplitters, amongst many others.” This statement comes years after Embracer Group shut down the studio behind TimeSplitters and cancelled a new Deus Ex game that was in development.
In 2024, Embracer split its assets across three standalone companies. These companies were “Asmodee Group,” “Coffee Stain & Friends,” and “Middle-earth Enterprises & Friends.” Embracer separated Asmodee from itself in February 2025. Afterwards, Coffee Stain was also spun-off from its parent company, and now, Middle-earth Enterprises & Friends, now named Fellowship Entertainment, follows the same fate as its fellow studios. The only studios still remaining under the core Embracer company are Aspyr, Beamdog, CrazyLabs, Deca, Demiurge, DPI Merchandising, Limited Run Games, Milestone, Plaion Partners and Pictures, THQ Nordic (including 35 studios and subsidiaries), Tripwire, and Vertigo Games.
