Embracer Group has announced their intention to split into three new standalone companies. The companies will be titled “Asmodee Group,” “Coffee Stain & Friends,” and “Middle-earth Enterprises & Friends.”
Over the last few months, Embracer Group has been part of an ongoing trend of layoffs throughout the video game industry. Recently, companies under their banner such as Free Radical Design and Eidos Montreal have suffered as part of Embracer’s attempts to cut costs. Other companies that have laid off numerous employees include Microsoft, Bungie, Behaviour Interactive, Riot Games, Sega, Sony, EA, and more. Unfortunately, the amount of layoffs across the industry will likely increase as the year continues.
Embracer Group Splits Into Three New Companies, More Details Revealed
In a recent Nasdaq conference, Embracer Group announced their intention to split into three new companies. The companies will be titled “Asmodee Group,” “Coffee Stain & Friends,” and “Middle-earth Enterprises & Friends.” According to the official Embracer Group website, the highlights of each new company is as follows:
- “Asmodee Group”
- “A global leading tabletop games publisher and distributor with an extensive studio network and IP catalogue.”
- Ticket to Ride, 7 Wonders, Azul, CATAN, Dobble, Exploding Kittens and an extensive number of distributed games and IPs are under their banner.
- They are also developing a wide range of licensed tabletop games based on The Lord of the Rings, Marvel, Game of Thrones, Netflix, Lego and Star Wars.
- “Coffee Stain & Friends”
- Focused on AA/Indie games for PC, mobile, and consoles.
- Properties include Deep Rock Galactic, Goat Simulator, Satisfactory, Wreckfest, Teardown, Valheim, and more.
- “Middle-earth Enterprises & Friends”
- Triple A titles focused on console and mobile.
- Properties include Dead Island, Killing Floor, Kingdom Come Deliverance, The Lord of the Rings, Metro, Tomb Raider, and more.
- They will also preside over Crystal Dynamics, Dambuster Studios, Eidos-Montréal, Flying Wild Hog Studios, Tripwire, Vertigo Games, Warhorse Studios, 4A Games, and more.
Lastly, Embracer Group will likely reveal more details on what the three new companies mean for their future and upcoming games in the coming months.
