Capcom has announced that after just over two weeks, Resident Evil Requiem has officially sold 6 million copies. This officially makes it the fastest-selling game in franchise history.
Resident Evil Requiem launched on February 27 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam. After just a few days, it had already sold over 5 million copies. The sales statistic will likely continue to grow in the coming weeks and months. Recently, Koshi Nakanishi, director of Resident Evil Requiem, announced in a new video that a DLC story expansion for the game is in development.
He also confirms that future updates will add photo mode and a “mini-game,” with the latter being available in May, alongside more “surprises.” While details for the mini-game are scarce, it’s possible that it will continue the tradition of the beloved Mercenaries mode releasing in an update after the launch of a major Resident Evil game. The upcoming DLC expansion “will delve deeper into the world of Requiem.” Its release date is currently unknown.
A recent press release from Capcom also states that new content, such as a collaboration with Universal Studios Japan, and new concerts in Japan, the US, and Europe, will be revealed on March 22, 2026, to commemorate the series’ 30th anniversary. A Deluxe Edition of Resident Evil Requiem is available with the Standard Edition ($69.99), alongside a Premium Steelbook Edition ($89.99).
A special edition Resident Evil Requiem Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller ($99.99) with designs from the game and a gunmetal-black finish are also available via Nintendo. Lastly, you can also purchase Nintendo Switch 2 versions of Resident Evil biohazard Gold Edition and Resident Evil Village Gold Edition, alongside a bundle of biohazard, Village, and Requiem.
