Rooster Fighter Premieres April 5 in Japan

The anime will debut on Adult Swim's Toonami on March 14.

The staff for the upcoming anime adaptation of Shu Sakuratani’s Rooster Fighter (Niwatori Fighter) manga announced that it will premiere on April 5. Additionally, a new promo visual for the series has also released.

The series will premiere in Japan at 24:00 JST (effectively, April 6 at 12 midnight JST). It will debut on Adult Swim’s Toonami on March 14. The cast and staff of the anime include:

  • Shiori Izawa as Piyoko
  • Tomohiro Ono as Keisuke
  • Mitsuaki Kanuka as Morio

Shu Sakuratani’s Rooster Fighter manga made its debut on Hero’s Inc.’s Comiplex back in December 2020. VIZ Media licensed the manga in English and describes the story as follows:

The neighborhood cock of the walk is more than just an ordinary rooster—he’s humanity’s greatest defender! His opponents may be ten stories tall, but nothing is bigger than his stout heart and his fearsome battle cry—cock-a-doodle-doo!

Recently, VIZ Media revealed a slew of licensing acquisitions announcements for manga and novels being released in English in summer 2026, including a paperback edition of Ask Iwata: Words of Wisdom, the Alice in Borderland Retry manga, and the Sakamoto Days: Assassin’s Method novel, to name a few.
