Seed Lab has announced a Nintendo Switch 2 version of its upcoming life sim Starsand Island will be available in early 2026 alongside PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. The Switch 2 version of Starsand Island features a Quality Mode targeting 1080p at 45 FPS, while a Performance Mode targets 1080p at 60 FPS. Starsand Island players can also take advantage of Game Chat in online multiplayer and mouse controls.
Seed Lab creative director Richardo Wang said, “Bringing Starsand Island to Nintendo Switch 2 has been a longstanding goal for us; the life-sim genre has a natural home on Nintendo consoles. Even before it was announced nearly a year ago, we knew – and wanted – our game to be on Nintendo’s next-generation platform. Starsand Island transports players to a simple, pastoral life, and we think that should be available whether they’re at home, commuting to and from work, or taking a break.”
Originally, Starsand Island was planned for release on February 1, 2026. A spokeperson from Seed Lab said, “We can confirm that the initial plan for a simultaneous launch on PC and consoles has changed, and now all platforms are targeted for release in early 2026.”
What’s more, there will be a collaboration between Starsand Island and My Time at Portia. In the collaboration, the sibling duo Ginger and Gust from My Time at Portia will arrive on the island in Starsand Island, and their original voice actors will reprise their roles as players make new sunny memories with the characters. Further details about the collaboration will be revealed at a later date.
A free Starsand Island demo is available on Steam. In the demo, players can build relationships with characters, unlock unique storylines, design and build homes, discover secrets, and enjoy different gameplay experiences. Save data from the Starsand Island demo doesn’t carry over to the full game, however.
Lastly, Starsand Island will be an Xbox Play Anywhere title across Xbox and PC devices, such as the new ROG Xbox Ally and Xbox Ally X handhelds.
