Square Enix has revealed new details and screenshots for HD-2D turn-based RPG Octopath Traveler 0 introducing travelers Delitia, Esperre, and Goodwin, Path Actions, Amity Levels, and Party Chat.
Delitia (CV: Kendell Byrd) is a hunter who grew up in the deserts of the Sunlands, and she takes great pride in the clan she belongs to. Wearing a light traditional outfit, Delitia is a traveler with the Hunter job, and she’s searching for her older brother, who is set to become clan leader. Delitia’s Ultimate Technique, Gift of the Aqeeq, lowers physical attack and physical defense of all foes and raises physical attack and physical defense of all allies for several turns.
Esperre (CV: Dawn M. Bennett) is an apothecary who set off on his own journey to save as many people as possible, upholding his father’s legacy. With the Apothecary job, Esperre can use the Ultimate Technique, Art of Healing, which reduces effects of all allies and grants an ally immunity to status ailments for several turns.
Goodwin (CV: Edward Bosco) is a playwright and actor who pursues fantastical stories of adventure. He was driven out of the city of the arts due to artistic differences, and after a shipwreck experience, Goodwin is inspired to take up the name of the Shipwreck King. As a Dancer, he can use the Ultimate Technique, Song of Levin Deal, which deals lightning damage to all foes, and for 2 turns, deal lightning damage to all foes at the start of turn.
In Octopath Traveler 0, players can use Path Actions to perform various actions on people they meet. The actions taken will vary based on the player’s influence and people’s values: Wealth, Power, or Fame. Wealth lets you “Purchase” or “Hire” with money, Power lets you “Contend” or “Impress” through combat, and Fame determines the success rates of “Entreat,” “Recruit” and “Invite.”
Amity Levels are unlocked once you develop the town to a certain level, and the levels serve as an indication of the closeness between the protagonist and their companions. Raise Amity Levels by using the “Inquire Further” Path Action in Wishvale to eventually earn valuable items and enhance Resident Skills. Sometimes, special items, such as a character’s favorite food, may be necessary.
There are also conversation events based on story progression and various situations, dubbed Party Chat. Players can experience exchanges and glimpses into the bonds and personalities of characters. This feature can be accessed from the main menu, if any are missed.
Octopath Traveler 0 players can explore the mystical Middlesea and the dangerous Outersea. There are uncharted islands and unknown creatures to encounter, but ultimately, where the adventure at sea goes is up to the player’s discretion.
Additionally, Square Enix plans to release an Octopath Traveler 0 Original Soundtrack two-disc CD set in December 2025 for $35.99 (before tax). The set includes an accompanying booklet with a special roundtable discussion revealing behind-the-scenes stories from composer Yasunori Nishiki and the music production staff.
Octopath Traveler 0 launches December 4 for Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, and digital pre-orders for Octopath Traveler 0 are live with a Travel Provisions bonus, featuring Healing Grape (M) x5, Inspiriting Plum (M) x5, Revitalizing Jam x2, and Icewind Mastery.
