The Exit 8 developer KOTAKE CREATE has unveiled Pale Dots, a new 3D thrill adventure game where players run and hide from “something huge” lurking on the planet they crashed on. Pale Dots was exhibited at the Tokyo Game Dungeon 10 event, which was being held on Hamamatsucho, Minato Ward, Japan, on November 9.
Pale Dots was previously titled STRANGE SHADOW, and along with the game’s title change, KOTAKE CREATE confirmed that the release date was delayed to an unannounced date. STRANGE SHADOW was slated to release by the end of 2025 for PC via Steam. The Steam page has been updated with the game’s new title, and screenshots will be uploaded at a later date.

Pale Dots is a thrill adventure game where you run and hide from scary giant creatures. In the midst of traveling through space, you have crashed on this planet. You must find a way home. Using various actions, find a way to escape from this planet and the giant creatures lurking around you!
PLAYISM and KOTAKE CREATE previously announced The Exit 8 surpassed two million copies sold worldwide on the day of the Nintendo Switch 2 version’s release and the theatrical premiere of the live-action film in Japan. The Nintendo Switch 2 version of The Exit 8 features new anomalies, which were added to the Nintendo Switch, PC (Steam), PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Android, iOS, and Xbox Series X|S versions in a free update.
Neon acquired the North American rights for The Exit 8 film for a North American theatrical premiere in early 2026. TOHO produced the new live-action film. Writer and director Genki Kawamura led the production. Kazunari Ninomiya is the star of The Exit 8.
