EVO and SEGA confirmed that an “exciting” news reveal for Virtua Fighter and a special teaser will be revealed on August 3, live on the EVO 2025 Grand Final Arena Stage. New Virtua Fighter project producer Riichiro Yamada and legacy Virtua Fighter project producer Seiji Aoki will be present on stage for the news reveal at EVO 2025.
On the first day of EVO 2025, SEGA and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio announced Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O World Stage will release on October 30 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, followed by the Nintendo Switch 2 version at a later date. The game will feature a brand-new mode, the new DLC character Dural, cross-play across all platforms, rollback netcode, and more. In addition a closed beta test for Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O World Stage will be held in early September on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam with cross-play. It’s free for all players, and those who participate earn a free in-game title in the full game.
In addition, all Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O players on Steam will receive the World Stage edition of the game via a free update. On PlayStation 5, Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown players purchase the new edition for a discounted price of $9.99 (MSRP: $19.99) with DLC carrying over. Pre-orders for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions open on August 1 at 2:00 p.m. PDT / 5:00 p.m. EDT with the SEGA Genesis character customization item as a pre-order bonus. Lastly, pre-orders for the Switch 2 version open at a later date.
