Obsidian Entertainment and Xbox have announced that The Outer Worlds 2 has dropped its price from $79.99 to $69.99. Those who have pre-ordered the game previously are eligible for a refund.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Obsidian offered an in-universe explanation for the price change:
“Dear Galactic Citizens!
We have received your SOS via skip drone about the pricing. As an organization devoted to making sure that corporations do not go unfettered, we at the Earth Directorate have worked with [REDACTED] to revise the price of The Outer Worlds 2. While this will not bring peace to the galaxy, or even your local colony, we assure you all that we are here to fight for all colonies in every way that we can.

It’s worth noting that the Premium Edition will still cost $99.99. Additionally, the game wil still launch for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and Windows on October 29. It will also be available on day one with Xbox Game Pass PC and Ultimate subscriptions.
