A live-action film is also being made at A24.

According to a recent interview with Hideo Kojima, an anime adaptation of Death Stranding is now in the works. A live-action film is also in the works at A24

Kojima said the following about the upcoming film and anime adaptations: “When it comes to adapting games into visual media, there are works like The Last of Us, which stays true to the original storyline, and films like The Super Mario Bros Movie which are more of a service to fans of the game.

While these works have their own merits, as a film enthusiast, I want to pursue the expressive potential of cinema. I aim to create a Death Stranding that can only be realized through film, one that could win awards at festivals like the Cannes Film Festival or the Venice Film Festival. In fact, we are also currently working on an anime adaptation.”

Michael Sarnoski (A Quiet Place: Day One) will direct the the new live-action film adaptation of Death Stranding. A24 will produce the Death Stranding film with game producer Hideo Kojima as the film’s producer, according to Deadline. Pre-orders are still available for $84.99 at PlayStation Direct and participating retailers. PlayStation worked closely with Kojima Productions on the controller design.

A new Death Stranding 2: On The Beach Limited Edition DualSense wireless controller will also be sold on June 26. Pre-orders for the Death Stranding 2: On The Beach Collector’s Edition and Digital Deluxe Edition are available now. These editions feature early access, allowing players to play the game two days early on June 24.
