NetherRealm Studios has released the Mortal Kombat 1: Definitive Edition for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC via Steam, and Nintendo Switch. It includes all of the DLC released for the game, new cosmetics based on the Mortal Kombat movie, and more.
The Mortal Kombat 1: Definitive Edition is available for $69.99 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. On Nintendo Switch, it costs $59.99. It includes movie skins for Johnny Cage, Shao Khan, Kitana, Scorpion, and Sub-Zero. The Mortal Kombat II film will release on October 24, 2025. Further, the Definitive Edition comes with the the previously released Khaos Reigns story expansion, extra cosmetics, and all of the DLC characters and Kameos.

Last year, Insider Gaming reported that future Mortal Kombat 1 DLC has been cancelled. The reason for this is supposedly due to the sales for the recent expansion, Khaos Reigns, underperforming. The cancelled DLCs would’ve included a third Kombat Pack, as well as a new story expansion. Currently, neither Ed Boon, NetherRealm Studios, or Warner Bros. have commented on the report. However, the release of a definitive edition indicates that the series’ post-launch content has come to an end.
In September, NetherRealm Studios released the expansion for Mortal Kombat 1, titled Khaos Reigns. It included Noob Saibot, Sektor, and Cyrax at launch. The most recent DLCs launched for Mortal Kombat 1 added Ghostface, Conan the Barbarian. and the T-1000 from Terminator 2: Judgement Day.
