A report from Bloomberg has revealed that the Apple Vision Pro will soon be compatible with the PlayStation VR2 controllers.
According to The Verge, “Under this rumored partnership, Apple would begin selling Sony’s controllers, which aren’t currently available on their own. Sony has apparently been working on adding the support for months, while Apple has asked third-party developers if they would take advantage of Sony’s VR controllers.”
Additionally, Sony is reportedly working on a portable PS5 console that will rival Microsoft’s new Xbox gaming handheld and Nintendo Switch and its successor. The new portable PS5 is years away from launch, and Sony may decide against releasing it, however.
Reports also suggest that Sony is looking to buy the massive Japanese entertainment conglomerate, Kadokawa. Kadokawa is known for several anime franchises such as Bungo Stray Dogs, The Rising of the Shield Hero, Date A Live, and countless others. The company also owns some video game companies, namely Armored Core and Elden Ring developer From Software.
Sony Interactive Entertainment also opened a new PlayStation history website to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the brand, which began with the release of the original PlayStation in December 1994. The website also revealed that the PlayStation 2 sold a total of 160 million units.
Both Sony and Apple will likely reveal more details about the collaboration with the PlayStation VR2 and Apple Vision Pro in the coming weeks and months. Recently, Sony and IOI announced that Hitman: World of Assassination would be coming to PlayStation VR2 in 2025.
