During their Otomate Connect livestream, Idea Factory’s Otomate brand has compiled a lot of information about its future lineup for next year. Among the announcements, there was one otome game in particular that was new, titled BYAKKO: Shijin Butai Enrenki. The game will be released in Japan for the Nintendo Switch on May 29th, 2025. As of the time of writing, it is unknown on whether this game might come west.
In this samurai-themed otome game, which takes place in the first year of the Genji era, the Edo Shogunate was in the midst of a period of upheaval and decline. Sano Yuzuriha, our protagonist, was born into a samurai family in the Aizu Domain. Unfortunately, she loses her elder brother in battle and finds herself alone at the age of 16.
Struck with grief, she slept with the sword that her brother used to commit seppuku, and inside her dreams, a white tiger god appears. He warns the protagonist about a potential tragedy, and gives her a mission:
“Take this gun and prevent the tragedy that is about to befell the young men. If you manage to accomplish this, I shall grant you whatever you wish.”
After waking up from her dream, she realizes that her brother’s sword has now turned into a gun. Three years pass, and the protagonist has become a true master of gunnery. And as if guided by the unseen hands of destiny, she meets the comrades-in-arms with whom she will share her destiny with. Just what awaits them at the end of all this? Is it glory? Tragedy? Or is it…
