Control 2 Confirmed to be an Action RPG

Additionally, Alan Wake 2 has passed 1.8 million units sold.

During Remedy Entertainment’s recent Capital Markets day presentation, they confirmed that Control 2 will be an action RPG. For context, its predecessor, Control, was a more traditional third-person shooter. This is likely another attempt from Remedy to branch out of their comfort zone and experiment with new genres, including survival horror, multiplayer, and more.

Additionally, the presentation confirmed that Alan Wake 2 has passed 1.8 million units sold. It also confirmed that the Control Ultimate Edition will be available on Mac on February 12, 2025, and that the game will receive a free update in early 2025 which will unlock some “previously released content.” Check out the announcement post below:

    About FBC: Firebreak

Remedy’s next game is FBC: Firebreak. In an interview with Xbox Wire, game director Mike Kayatta stated the following: “FBC: Firebreak is not Control DLC and it’s definitely not a Control sequel…We’re actively avoiding coming even close to feeling like either of those things. I guess you could say that it’s a spin-off, but in the most positive sense of the word. It’s not designed to be some kind of lesser, bite-sized Control. FBC: Firebreak is its own, fully formed thing.”

Communications Director Thomas Puha also said the following about the game: “We have always done single player games at Remedy, and rest assured, we have more single player games in development, and they will be awesome, but for a long time we have wanted to make a PvE multiplayer game.  There are loads of us here who love multiplayer besides single player. We don’t want to be doing the same types of games all the time; it’s good to take on new challenges.”

You’ll take on the roles of fearless first responders in the Federal Bureau of Control, sent to fend off paranatural threats in the dark heart of its shifting, eldritch headquarters, The Oldest House. This might have the shape of other PvE multiplayer shooters, but even from the first trailer you can tell there’s a distinct Remedy touch to the enemies, environments, and especially equipment.”

FBC: Firebreak will release on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC in 2025
