The new STEINS;GATE sequel, also known as Steins;???, is currently in the concepts phase, according to a CBR interview with series producer Tatsuya Matsubara. This means that the STEINS;GATE sequel is not in full development yet, as concepts are being prepared for what will become the scenario for the game. The game was originally announced in late 2020.
Here’s the excerpt from the interview:
Interviewer: What does the future look like for STEINS;GATE moving forward? Are there any plans that you can share with our readers about the franchise’s future expansions?
Matsubara: In the immediate future, the game is coming to Crunchyroll Vault, which is very exciting for a new audience to be able to experience it. In addition, Steins;Gate is celebrating its 15th anniversary in Japan. So, we have some live events and live programming planned around that. Beyond those, I think it’s already been announced, but there is a sequel to which we are putting the concepts together right now, and my task is then to take this concept and translate it into a scenario for the game.
To celebrate the franchise’s 15th anniversary, MAGES. has announced STEINS;GATE RE:BOOT, a remake of the original STEINS;GATE visual novel. Launching in 2025 in Japan, STEINS;GATE RE:BOOT features new story elements and graphics. Platforms for the title were not announced yet.
