Arc System Works and Bushiroad Games announced Eighting-developed 2D 3v3 fighting game Hunter x Hunter: Nen x Impact has been delayed to 2025 for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam. Originally, the game was slated to launch in 2024.
In an official announcement, the developers for Hunter x Hunter: Nen x Impact noted that the game was delayed in order to implement rollback netcode. The game was planned to release with delay based netcode, but the developers decided to use rollback to ensure smooth online matches.
The statement from the developers may be read in full below, via Arc System Works:
“The release timing for Hunter x Hunter: Nen x Impact will be changed from the previously announced 2024 timing to now release within 2025.”
“We sincerely apologize for the trouble caused by this delay to the players who are looking forward to the game’s release.
“This delay is so that we will be able to implement rollback netcode for release.
“Rollback netcode is a system that reduces the feeling of connection delay when playing online matches.
“We made this decision out of concern that players would not be able to fully enjoy the game in a state where some players would encounter issues with online play, given the nature of fighting games.
“The release date will be announced at a later time.
“We appreciate your understanding, as we continue to work to provide the best game possible.”
Hunter X Hunter: Nen X Impact will launch with 16 characters. Eighting, the developers of DNF Duel and Marvel vs Capcom 3, are lending their expertise in the genre for this new game. Their other titles include the series of Naruto: Clash of Ninja, Bleach: Heat the Soul, and Tatsunoko vs Capcom.
