The official Gundam portal website announced that the Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin anime series will receive compilation films in Japan. All six episodes of this Mobile Suit Gundam anime will be re-edited into a “Movie Edition” for select theaters in Japan.
Three compilation films for Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin will screen in theaters starting September 13, with the first to be shown at Tokyo’s Shinjuku Piccadilly. A second screening will be held on September 22 at the Shimane Cinema Onozawa, followed by 18 theaters across Japan on October 25. Moreover, the first film adapts the Char/Sayla Arc, the second adapts The Outbreak of War Arc, and the third film covers the Loum Arc.
Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin anime ran in Japanese theaters from 2015 to 2018, with 13 episode TV anime adaptation in 2019. The story focuses on the upbringing of Char Aznable, The Red Comet and antagonist of the original series protagonist Amuro Ray. Anime director Yoshikazu Yasuhiko edited the anime into the compilation films to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the Mobile Suit Gundam anime.
Yasuhiko previously wrote and illustrated the Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin manga with direct inspiration from the franchise’s first anime. In fact, he designed the characters in the first anime and serves as the chief director and storyboarder for The Origin.
Final Weapon’s recent review of Gundam Breaker 4 delves into what this gunpla-building action game offers for consoles and PC. In the game, players have access to a variety of Mobile Suits from across the entire franchise as well. However, the game suffers from technical issues and other bugs, so players should be aware before making a purchase.
