To celebrate the final chapter of My Hero Academia, Shueisha has launched the global character popularity poll called “World Best Hero.” My Hero Academia manga author Kohei Horikoshi also shared a special message to fans.
The My Hero Academia Worldwide Character Popularity Poll – World Best Hero event will be held until September 30 at 11:59 p.m. JST. Specifically, the event will kick off with the first round of voting, called Main Stage, where rankings are determined over a two-month voting period. All voting will be done through the global popularity poll website.
Results for the Main Stage will be announced on December 2 at 7:00 p.m. JST via a premium live broadcast via the official Jump Channel on YouTube. A special and final round of voting, the Plus Ultra Stage, will be held for 24 hours to determine the #1 hero out of the top three characters. A statue will be created in his or her honor, and results will be revealed on the Jump Channel as well.
Fans may also take part in the World Best Hero Fan Art Contest on Twitter with the hashtags “#WBH_FANART” or “#頑張れって感じのファンアート” (DoYourBestFanArt). The top ten works will be showcased on the special website, with winners receiving digital data wi th personalized signature from Horikoshi-sensei. Submissions end on September 1, and results will be available on September 15.
To commemorate the manga’s final chapter, Horikoshi-sensei shared a special message in the New York Times:
“Thank you for all the love and support for My Hero Academia! Seeing everyone enjoy the series was a joy for me as well, said Horikoshi-sensei. “As you continue your daily lives, I hope you will fondly remember Deku and friends every now and then.”
My Hero Academia: You’re Next is now airing in Japanese theaters. The movie will come to theaters in North America on October 11.
My Hero Academia Season 7 premiered on May 4 with English subs, and the English dub premiered just a few weeks later on May 18 via Crunchyroll.
