Death end re;Quest Code Z Officially Announced

    A new roguelike RPG featuring characters from across the series.

    In the latest issue of Weekly Famitsu, Compile Heart announced its new “Z” game, Death end re;Quest Code Z. The game will launch on September 19 in Japan for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5. 

    Seven new games are currently in development at Compile Heart, including the next numbered Hyperdimension Neptunia title and Death end re;Quest 3. A spin-off was also teased with the tentative title Death end re;Quest Code:Zion, and a release window was previously set for summer 2024. This new RPG will apparently focus on a story told between the first and second games. 

    Compile Heart Unveils Death end re;Quest Code Z

    Unlike previous Death end re;Quest games, Death end re;Quest Code Z is a roguelike RPG akin to Shiren the Wanderer: The Mystery Dungeon of Serpentcoil Island. The game will feature a brand-new story featuring characters from across the entire series, and there will be over 100 Death Ends. The game’s new character, Sayaka Hiwatari, is voiced by Yoshino Aoyama. 

    The standard edition will be sold for 8,580 yen for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. In addition, limited editions will be sold for 10,780 yen and 16,280 yen respectively. The contents of these limited editions were not revealed yet. 

    As reported by Gematsu, Death end re;Quest Code Z is a CERO Z-rated game. This means that it will have a very high level of brutality. Players can expect scenes with bones breaking, flesh tearing, and necks twisting with vivid depictions and realistic sound effects. 

    The countdown teaser website officially revealed the new Death end re;Quest title on April 24 at 7:30 p.m. PT / 10:30 p.m. ET. Here are more details from the official website, translated by Gematsu

    A story in which various “parallel worlds” exist.
    Iris was born in “DE-1 World,” which is the spitting image of Earth in the 2000s. The “spiral” of tragedy that continues to loop created by Iris’ birth is gradually unraveling thanks to the activities of Arata Mizunashi and company.
    And so Iris, who regained good will, created “DE-1.5 World,” a replica of “DE-1 World.” This was an ideal world where those expected to fight were kind to one another, and where everything was in sync. However, a new crisis drew near even in this world.
    A mysterious man appears, and the heroines are in danger. And so new protagonist Sayaka Hiwatari must face against a chaotic scene of friends and foes alike.
    The battle against the upper world is about to enter a new phase…

    Lastly, Compile Heart is also preparing to release Neptunia VS Titan Dogoo, a new motorcycle action game spin-off. The game will launch on June 28 in Japan for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
