The official Twitter account for Gintama anime series reveals a new key visual for the upcoming Gintama on Theater 2D: Ikkoku Keisei-hen / Gintama on Theater 2D: Courtesan of the Nation Arc compilation film.
Hideki Sorachi’s popular Gintama series began with the manga in 2004 and ran all the way until June 2021. In March 2023, an anime adaptation for the 3rd Year Class Z Ginpachi-sensei spin-off novel was confirmed. At Jump Festa 2024, a 2025 premiere window for the anime spin-off was confirmed as fans finished catching up with Gintama on Theater 2D: Baragaki Arc in theaters.

Gintama on Theater 2D: Ikkoku Keisei-hen, or Gintama on Theater 2D: Courtesan of the Nation Arc, will premiere in theaters on June 21 for three weeks. It covers episodes 257 through 261 of the anime series with re-edits and bonus footage. A new website for the theatrical screenings is now live as well.
The Gintama on Theater 2D: Ikkoku Keisei-hen compilation film is part of the Gintama franchise’s 20th anniversary plans, which also includes Gintama Exhibition – Hatachi no Tsudoi. Fans can also expect updates on 3rd Year Class Z Ginpachi-sensei in the near future.
