What Happened in Episode 3? (Recap)

Sung Jinwoo wakes up in a hospital bed after his death in Solo Leveling episode 3. He’s surprised to see his limbs intact, and he’s equally as surprised when two members of Hunters Association show up at his room door. Woo Jinchul and Kang Taeshik introduce themselves and theorize that Jinwoo experienced a “second awakening.” Hunters who experience a second awakening often become A-rank or S-rank, but the two determine the Jinwoo didn’t receive a power raise of any kind.

After the two hunters leave the room, Jinwoo’s sister Jinah enters and is relieved to see her brother in good health. Jinwoo continues to ponder the strange blue notification boxes that only he can see while trying to get some sort of explanation from Jinah. Moreover, he notices that he now gets daily quests in his inbox involving exercise. Jinwoo neglects this daily quest and gets thrown into another dimension with a massive centipede ready to eat him alive. Fortunately, he survives and receives rewards for completing his penalty, encouraging him to actually train.

The episode briefly switches over to Joohee Lee, who’s traumatized by the events from Solo Leveling episode 2. She refuses to take new hunter assignments, but she’s quickly back to being a bit more cheerful when she learns that Jinwoo is safe and sound. She goes to visit Jinwoo, who’s training on hospital grounds.

Near the end of the episode, Jinwoo opens a loot box with a key to an instanced dungeon. He’s determined to get stronger, so he decides to use the key and work toward completing the dungeon. After some hesitation, he takes out three goblins in quick succession. His improved strength shows, but he will need much more than that again a dangerous Lycan that comes his way.
