What Happened in Chapter 5? (Recap)

Boruto Two Blue Vortex chapter 5 began with a flashback of Boruto’s training with Sasuke after leaving the village. Boruto masters the Uchiha fighting style, but he’s still not entirely confident in his abilities. Sasuke tells Boruto to continue his training, since he and Sarada are the only ones that can combat the state of the world brought by Omnipotence. Then, the chapter goes to Sasuke’s fateful battle with Code, which results in him being captured in a Divine Tree.

In the present, the Divine Trees are mulling over their current circumstances regarding their sentience. It’s revealed that the Divine Trees carry personality and physical traits associated with the person they manifested from. For instance, Moegi’s Divine Tree now has an interested in Konohamaru, and she decides that will be her next target. The rest of the Divine Trees pick targets that suit their interests as well, hinting at future confrontations.

Meanwhile, Sumire and Amado have a talk about the current situation. Amado reveals that he’s actually aware that his memory has been altered by Omnipotence, with Kawaki being the trigger. This conversation was recorded by the interim Hokage Shikamaru, who now ponders over the revelation with Sai.

Finally, the chapter ends with a conversation between Sumire and Sarada, as the two choose to believe in Boruto. Boruto returns to the village once more, revealing that Sasuke still believed in him despite the memory issues. Sarada firmly hugs Boruto, welcoming him back to the village at last.
