Altec Lansing ‘Guesses’ Nintendo Switch 2 is Launching in September 2024

The Nintendo Switch successor is on the way?

    Published:

Audio tech company Altec Lansing claims the Nintendo Switch 2 will launch in September 2024 according to its latest press release for Ai Shark (GameShark). However, a spokesperson for Ai Shark walked back the claim from Altec Lansing, stating that it’s just a “guess” from the company.

Rumors and speculation regarding the Nintendo Switch 2 have been rampant in the first two weeks of 2024. Unsurprisingly, there’s no official word about the next-gen console from major gaming publishers and developers working with Nintendo. In a press release that seemingly completely irrelevant to Nintendo’s next console, Ai Shark claims its own product will launch alongside Nintendo Switch 2.

Nintendo Switch 2 Release Window Confirmed? Not Necessary

Although Altec Lansing’s press release seems confident in a September 2024 release window for Nintendo Switch 2, the comment was walked back rather quickly. An Ai Shark spokesperson told Jason Schreier that the release window is just a guess from the company. Moreover, another spokesperson told Digital Trends that the console is planned for a fall 2024.

“Altec Lansing, the leading global audio electronics company, today announces its role as the first licensee of Ai Shark’s cutting-edge gaming software,” the press release reads. “Formerly known as GameShark, Ai Shark is set to redefine the gaming landscape with its revolutionary AI-enhanced technology. The innovative gaming software is set to mark a significant leap forward in the gaming experience, bringing enhanced gameplay for beginner-level users. The official launch is planned to coincide with the Nintendo Switch 2 in September 2024.”

It’s extremely unlikely that Altec Lansing or Ai Shark would ever receive official word from Nintendo about its next console, as it’s sensitive information that only select partners would have. Nevertheless, a reveal of a next-gen console seems imminent, since many Nintendo Switch games are going out of print. The Nintendo Switch is nearly seven years old, so it’s almost time for the next generation of Nintendo platforms to finally begin.

Super Smash Bros creator Masahiro Sakurai is wrapping up his YouTube channel in 2024. Since the developer is still committed to creating and developing games, it seems like he could be involved in a project for the next Nintendo console, too.
